6 Less Common Herbs & Spices for the Kitchen

6. Chervil.

What It Is: Chervil is a close relative of flat-leaf and curly-leaf parsley, but is much more delicate, and thus has a shorter shelf life. It has a very mild anise flavor.

Use: Add chervil at the end of cooking, or sprinkle it on raw. Great chopped on salads, over grilled vegetables, as a finishing touch on soups and pastas.

I love sorrel, it's delicious, and really easy to grow. Please google "Potage Germiny" or "Cream of Sorrel soup", and you'll find an awesome recipe for this lovely herb. But, be sure to pick it before it starts growing flower stems, as the plant then gets tougher and stringy.

Thank you for sharing. Lovage is still popular in Greece, as well as chervil and sorrel.
