Receiving Love

Few who have attempted to release every demon and doubt, every painful memory and negative energy have succeeded without the aid of spirit.

Here is something useful to write down as a reminder:

“Spirit is always with me. It wants to lift my pain. It does this not by abolishing painful memories but by putting me totally in the present, where the past doesn’t exist.”

The spiritual answer to any problem is immediate. It’s our own perception that is slow to catch on. God’s ability to love us is limited only by our ability to receive that love here and now. Since our loved ones represent manifested portions of God in our lives, the same could be said for them. To receive God’s love we need only increase our ability to receive the love being reflected back in our intimate relationships.

If you’re getting stuck in negativity, you’re likely to assume that other people feel the same way about you, and mostly that’s not true. People who really love you keep on loving you, even when you’re not loving yourself. The love you get is limited only by your ability to receive it.

It’s amazingly easy to shut someone else down. Without thinking about it we let pass countless occasions during the day when love makes a tentative appearance – in other words, we turn our backs on spirit.

Your beloved may start to say something nice or give you an affectionate touch or ask how you are feeling. Notice how often this seed isn’t allowed to grow, how quickly you simply cut the gesture off or take it for granted. In this way you limit the love you are receiving, rather than nurturing its faint beginnings.

Being shown a gesture of love is like being offered a portion of God.

Look into the eyes of your beloved and learn to believe that love is really there.

Adapted from The Path to Love, by Deepak Chopra (Three Rivers Press, 1997).

Then you would have to mention Buddha, Muhammad and all other prophets and sages, that is why. It is simpler to deal with the source or it all which is God or Allah or the Unified Field.

Judy P.

Remember, we're dealing with, "God -- The Father", "God -- The Son" and "God -- The Holy Spirit". Entity

God offered up His Son who offered up His life and the Holy Spirit is within us to guide us. Yes, Jesus loves me and I must love myself first before I can expect someone else to.

I'm beginning to like commenting about the articles.

Lars K.

....and how can you write an entire article about God's love without mentioning Jesus?

"Few who have attempted to release every demon and doubt, every painful memory and negative energy have succeeded without the aid of spirit."
To think that demons can be "released" is clueless in the extreme!!! They have to be forced to leave us by God's power. So yes, His Spirit can easily do that - BUT ONLY if we accept Jesus as our only Savior and trust in His power to help us!

Furthermore, God's Spirit is not an object referred to as "it".

Once I had a lover and when I looked into his eyes I saw love reflected there. Was it my own love coming from me that I saw reflecting there or was it his? Or was it both? In just a few months of finding him cancer claimed him. So sort a time but so powerful a connection. It came late in my life. Age 65 but at least I experienced it. Whatever caused the connection to be like that has never happened before or since but I now know it is possible.

Other loving relationships can occur and have for me but not like that.

I think maybe we all have this immense ability to feel love within and to allow that love to spill out into the world and into others but some may have blockages within them and though the signals are sent, the receiver is not tuned in. When that kind of thing happens it is a different experience from the experience you have when someone totally drinks in the love you offer and then reflects that back to you along with their own little love-generating ability.

Pablo Luces

what if you don't have a beloved?

"Being shown a gesture of love is like being offered a portion of God." That is so powerful!

Ch Hardy

Very powerful words! Glad I read them!

Paul Puckett

And the rest of the book is as insightful as the excerpt!
