The Risk Factors for Heart Attack
By Stephanie Trelogan, Caring.com
Risk factors that CAN NOT be changed
- Increasing age. More than 83 percent of people who die of coronary artery disease are 65 or older. As you age, your risk of having a heart attack increases.
- Being male. Men have a greater risk of heart attack than women, and they have attacks earlier in life. But it’s important to note that women are more likely to have undiagnosed heart disease and are more likely to die from heart attacks than men.
- Family history. Children of parents with heart disease are more likely to develop it themselves.

add your comment »I tried to follow a suggestion in another article to print the article by clicking thru its 13 PAGES. (13 pages. WHY?!) After FINALLY getting thru to the 13th page, the Print button REFUSED to work. Total waste of time. So any good to come from the article was lost to me. I see no sense in downloading a whole website 13 TIMES just to read an article. Please condense articles to no more than a few pages. Then maybe more peope will be inclined (and ABLE) to READ THEM! Thanks for the rant space. (Also, what's the point of flagging a commment as inappropriate? I never received a response. I only flagged the comment (not on this article) because the commenter THREATENED ANOTHER PERSON'S LIFE.)

Sorry, about to rant, feel free to skip over this post, but I gotta get this one out. I'm not even going to read this article. 5 PAGES? Seriously? What is it...one paragraph per page? Scrolling through 5 pags to get information that could easily be summed up in 1 page is a dumb idea. Makes it harder to read, and really sucks for those of us with slow connections. It would take me like 20 minutes to read this 5 minute article. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, if it fits on one page, PUT IT ON ONE PAGE!! Then maybe more people would read it.

I wish these one size fits all answers would realize there are some of us who fit a different mold and no one ever writes about this sort of combination: HDL over 100 and that boosts our overall cholesterol numbers to 250. I have one doctor saying that the HDL trumps high cardio CRP, lipo A, fibrinogen, and LDL numbers. (BTW regular CRP only slightly elevated, blood sugar fine, triglicerides fine, blood pressure low, gene factor - the good one). Metabolism Very slow based on VO2 test (-36%), so overweight. The other doctor wants me taking aspirin, niaspan, and red rice yeast extract. What's the answer since they don't agree and nobody ever writes about this?

If we have to continue clicking through page after page just to read a few words, I will definitely cancel my subscription to this site.

5 pages this time. Too many. I won't read that many. I've noticed that Mel uses the multiple page format a lot. Is there any particular reason?

I think not only is dangerous for people who smoke it is also dangerous to people when they are around smokers on a constant basis.
I know that I became deaf because of my father and my ex-husband smoking around me on a constant basis secondary smoke can kill everyone around and that is something nobody thought about.

There we go again, a click through article! Why, oh why ? Because you want us to see those adds, which we never look at anyway ? Sometimes it makes me feel like cancelling my subscription to your site.
