School Shooting in Connecticut: When Will it Stop?

School Shooting in Connecticut: When Will it Stop?

An unimaginable tragedy happened this morning at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newton, Connecticut: 20 young children and 6 adults were fatally wounded from gunfire. While we cannot understand the horror and pain that this town is going through, we send our love and healing vibes to all the victims, families, friends and neighbors. And we pray that our world can move towards a place where senseless killing does not exist. What is your reaction to this tragedy? Please tell us your thoughts in the comment field.

Banning guns is not the answer. We have laws on the books, and a ban semi automatic weapons have been on the books since 1939. Enforce the laws on the books and leave the 2nd Amendment alone. "Today we need a nation of Minutemen, citizens who are not only prepared to take arms, but citizens who regard the preservation of freedom as the basic purpose of their daily life and who are willing to consciously work and sacrifice for that freedom."

Quote by JFK...liberal icon. He also lowered taxes in order to spur the economy. He would not be welcome in his own political party today... and be called a "Radical" right wing crazy. Hell he wouldn't even be welcome among moderate Republicans or members of his own now far leftist family. My...how far we have fallen.

The blame and blood is on the hands of the killer, not the gun. It is time people wake up and stop trying to blame tragedy on law biding citizens right to bear arms, as is written by our forefathers. They knew what it was like where they came from and did not want the same for this New Land!

When i saw this tragedy on the news, my heart broke to think of how many families are affected by this, how they must come to terms with living without their loved ones being taken away from them in such a horrible way. No words will take away the pain they feel. All we can do is to pray that God will comfort them, heal them in the knowing that all of them who lost their lives, are in a much better place and will meet up again one day in heaven

I can't believe half of what I am reading here, I suspect people need to place blame somewhere, guns, video games, bad or lack of psychiatric care. Disrespecting our President and Vice-President also blaming them for their policies. Do we really understand what makes these people go off the deep end and kill so many people at one time, carefully planned? We have guns and video games and will never do such a thing. So where is the connection? I bet there are millions who do and will never cross that line. There is something wrong with these people and we need to find out what and soon. There is no time to play the blame game right now. We pray for all the families and children who are affected by this horrific tragedy and we try to find out what was wrong with this young man that caused him take such actions. We then find a way to reach out to people who have these uncontrollable feelings and get them help. Try to prevent them from acting on their anger. They need help.

It's sad to see, yet again, the tremendous increase in criminal behavior of people who have no male parent in their lives.

On the other hand, there are some silver linings. It's good the crime rates continue to decline, especially since the "assault weapon" ban expired in 2004. Also, the data continue to mount showing how much safer people are where there is higher gun ownership. Like so many other people these days, I'm looking at some new firearm purchases to help protect my family.

I know Obama isn't very bright and he's a sleazy lawyer/politician and all, but I'm just praying that he has some decent advisers who can simplify and explain some of the data to him, so he comes down on the side of respecting our constitution and promoting a safe society with sensible and unrestricted gun laws. It does worry me a little that he assigned his plagiarist VP who can't count to 4 to lead the team. Still, let's pray they bring some people with brains and integrity on board and that they listen to them.

Who knows when it will end? One way to get through it and discourage repeats of it locally, like in your home or town is to instill love in your children. Hate war and violence only create more of the same. Love saves all. And further those who even want to kill really need help they are screaming for it. But parents own responsibility for their children not authority figures. So all need to stop blaming and get to loving to effictivly deal with this horrific problem.

I also suspect it is the violent video games. One of the games the maniac boy was constantly playing was Call to Arms, a dreadfully realistic game where you use virtual replicas of real weapons to kill. One trailer shows Nuke Town. We can only guess what made this disturbed person carefully smash his hard drive and deliberately set out on a premeditated rampage.
I bought a copy of Borderlands for X-box then took it back once I read that, but there are very few nonviolent X-box games for older children, only games for little children. My own children have been aggressive to each other after prolonged video gaming. Also for God's sake ban assault rifles and all but the simplest rifles to those who really can be trusted.
