6 Mystic Symbols for the Home

The symbols in your home have a life and spirit of their own, and they are constantly affecting the energy of your home, believes author Denise Linn, a leading expert on clearing the energy of a home.

She thinks we can literally change our life by harnessing the power of the symbols around us.

Linn writes: “A symbol can act in two ways. First, it can be used to focus and project your energy through it. Second, a symbol can function as a magnifier and transmitter of energy, even if you are not focusing attention on the symbol.”

Here are six mystic symbols for the home, and what they can do for you:

Circle: The circle is one of the most potent symbols. It represents eternity, completion, unity, the universe, wholeness, perfection and the Great Mystery.

Triangle: The triangle embodies the power of the pyramids. It relates to the combined power of body, mind and spirit, of mother, father and child, of past, present and future, of the Holy Trinity.

Square: The square symbolizes the four elements—air, water, fire and earth—and the four directions. It represents stability and strength, the four seasons. It represents the material world.

Cross: The symbol of the cross pre-dates Christianity and is perhaps the oldest talismanic symbol in the world. The cross symbolizes eternal life, resurrection and divine protection from evil. It also represents Jesus Christ.

Pentagram: The pentagram symbolizes the human body with each point representing one part of the body’s extremities—the head, hands and feet comprising each point of the star. It is used for protection.

Infinity: The symbol for infinity looks like the number eight laid on its side. This is a very powerful and cosmic symbol to use in your home.

Inspired by Sacred Space, by Denise Linn (Ballentine Wellspring, 1995).

About the cross: there are many different type crosses. There's the one we all know as the Christian cross (looks like a lower case "t") but there is also an equal arm cross which is not part of the Christian religion (that I know of anyway).

I like this list although I'm very disturbed that the correct meaning of the pentagram is not here. Most of these symbols have many different meanings and one of the pentagrams main meanings is that it is symbolic of the elements of the Earth and also spirit at the top. The circle surrounding indicates how they are all connected. That is much more meaningful than a symbol for the human body.

Symbols ARE religious. There's no way around it. If you are interested in symbols, you know they have something to do with deity in one way or another.

I think it's ridiculous that you would suggest that a Cross is a mystic symbol that ALL should embrace! For being such a green and worldly site, it's awfully close minded of you to think that the majority of people visiting this site would follow this thinking. I agree that a Cross can be a cherished symbol for some people, but it is definitely not applicable to all! There are many religions in the world and Jesus Christ is definitely not a part of all of them! Perhaps when making future suggestions, you should keep religion out of the picture completely!
