‘Skydiving’ Cats Controversy

Have you seen this insane video of cats sailing and spinning through the air, fur all fluffy and whiskers twisted, waiting to land on all four feet? If not you must see it (above).

The video is actually a commercial for a Swedish insurance company called Firm Folksam. They held a contest asking its customers to suggest fun web ads. A woman named Eva suggested skydiving cats sailing through the air to the song, I believe I can fly.  For some reason, the ad executives thought this was a brilliant idea and they actually created the ad. The ad then went viral and animal lovers across the globe were outraged!

Now before panicking at the the thought of poor kitties with parachute packs being catapulted out the door of a plane, do know that not a single cat in the video ever left the studio nor did a single cat even find itself soaring through the air. Instead, the ad agency used green screens to replace skydiving people with skydiving cats and relied upon fans to give the kitties that wind-rush look.

The fact that at one point in the video, two of the skydiving cats give each other a high five should have been enough to tip viewers that this was only a feline fantasy!

What do you think of the ad?

The link to the video is broke now, but if it was faked then shame on all the gullible idiots who thought it was real! However, it might give some other stupid people ideas!

It's cute and obviously engineered (not real). Unfortunately, I am concerned that there will be monsters out there that will try this with an animal. The monsters get enough ideas without any more help!

Thanks Dale O for the YouTube link.

The only Problems with such videos is that when an evil minded backward morons sees these type of unnatural & new acts perform by innocent animals they tend to try & experience things on animlas. Just last week some evil scums in Russia tied an innocent Donkey to a Air Baloon and released him into the thin air. It seems some people were at the beach were watching it was horrified and called the cops. Imagine what these such heartless ruthless cowards can do to harm totally helpless animals. So to publish a Cat parachuting is NOT a Good idea.

Teresa, if you're at all interested, the "version" I saw was the 2003 "remake"............the original was made in 1974 and there is a 3rd one coming out this year. Supposedly, the 2003 re-make was very highly rated...............never saw the first one, and believe it or not, never saw ANY of the Friday, the 13th or the other one, what was it, Halloween? I dunno, Freddie vs. Jason stuff? Some are fans of that kind of thing, and normally, I am not at all.

Teresa, for a moment I was wondering "which" Diane you were referring to and what "movie", and I had to scroll back aways to find out. It was to mine, I guess, and the movie was the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" and actually, it was one of the most highly rated re-makes of any horror film. I'm not a fan of those kinds of movies and rarely watch them. This one happened to be on TV while I was cleaning the room and I started watching bits & pieces of it. Yes, of course the actors and actresses cut up were not actually killed and it was all for "drama", same as with this "video". That was my point. :)
