I had heard about this on Dr. Oz. I try to do it for a 30 count most evenings along with other stretching type exercises. It still is very difficult for me to do.

This is just one of many exercises for the abs. On its own, it will not build very good stomach muscles - it's probably also one of the least effective exercise. Note she says "hold for 30 seconds, rest for 30 seconds and repeat before going on to the next move". So that's two minutes out of the 10 minutes ab exercises - what about the other 8 minutes?
I could do this for about 5 minutes, but then it's a question of how strong my arms are - they are probably being used more in the plank than the abs. Using your muscles to lift your body, as in crunches, is more effective for building good ab muscles.
