Inspired by Vibrational Medicine, by Richard Gerber (Inner Traditions, 2001).

Most healers generally agree that colors have a distinct effect on the human body, mind, and spirit. In most systems of healing thought, orange is a color of positive energy, health, and vitality. It is considered to be a color of imagination, purposeful spiritual direction, and optimism.

If you are in need of a spiritual uplift or a healing boost, orange may be the color for you. Find out which medical conditions have benefited from orange (and which ones may be aggravated by it), and which foods may be best for bringing orange energy into your life:

Orange is a color that some healers believe helps the body eliminate waste, germs, and toxins. It is often useful for healing kidney and bladder ailments and constipation, for shrinking cysts or stones, and for menstrual disorders.

Orange is considered a decongestant color, so it is often used for treating colds, coughs, and respiratory problems. It has been used to regenerate lung tissue.

Since it is such an energizing color, orange projected during healing traditionally has been used to treat sexual disorders, to boost immunity, and stimulate the thyroid gland.

Because orange is believed to have such an intense effect, orange energy is not generally used for treating delicate organs such as the eyes, the brain, or the heart.

Techniques for using colors include simply visualizing the color penetrating the affected part of the body, or imagining the color surrounding you. Another method is to visualize orange energy into reflex points on the feet associated with the troubled organ system.

To benefit from the spiritual nourishment of orange, consider eating the following foods: oranges and orange juice, carrots and carrot juice, mangoes, tangerines, pumpkins, and apricots.
