The Seat of Your Power

The Seat of Your Power

Adapted from The Way of the Wizard, by Deepak Chopra (Harmony Books, 1995).

Power is a double-edged sword. Ego power seeks to control and dominate. The wizard’s power is the power of love. The eternal clash of power ends in unity.

The seat of power is the inner self.

Learning to set the ego aside happens in stages. There are many layers of isolation, fear, habit, selfishness, and anger that prevent us from experiencing love as the wizard knows it. The lead role in learning to contact the universal force of love can first be taken by your mind. The mind can take on a new perspective, then the re-education of emotions and beliefs can follow.

What is the basis of the mind’s new viewpoint? Simply that there is a force of love present everywhere, that it can be trusted to bring your own life into order and peace.

The power of love is the power of purity. The word love is used in many ways, but it is a sacred word to the wizard, because his meaning for love is “that which dissolves all impurities, leaving only the true and the real.” “As long as you have fear, you cannot really love,” Merlin cautioned. “As long as you have anger, you cannot truly love. As long as you have selfish ego, you cannot truly love.”

However impure you are, love will seek you out and work on you until you can love.

Yes I am learning about setting boundaries now. For a long time I considered boundaries confining. I see now that they are there to protect our bodies so that the spirit within is free to connect with the universe and universal love. Transending the ego...Would this be the right direction?

Marilyn Stahulak

If you have been hurt physically or emotionally by another person, it is natural and healthy to put up boundaries to protect yourself. With support of a higher power and perhaps a therapist there can be healing. You are in charge of your boundaries. They can be slowly changed as you get more comfortable with someone.

If you wish others to speak well of you,
do not ever speak well of yourself.

Love to you too Carrie a lovely thought ...the flow of admiration..
..go with the flow :-)

Thank you De T. for your comments and for taking the time to send encouraging words. I guess as it happened as I was a child and had it burried way down in the bottom of my heart for so long...its coming to the top now and ready for healing. Talking it through in therapy is helping to understand the helplessness of the situation at the time and that it wasn't my fault.
I am positive about it but nevertheless have to regain that trust that was injured before moving on.
Here and now....is a good place to be.....everything happens when the time is right for it to happen. Thanks to you and Deborah also for sharing with me.

Love means to me in the words of another great male "the flow of admiration particles from one being to another" or words to that effect - I love you Mary & Deepak

wow Mary...opening to love doesn't mean opening to abuse. Love can also mean "I'm not going to do that again" and learning. Learning is different from putting up walls and blocking your heart. Love you first. Love "you" enough to say "I allowed this to happen" because that puts you back in control of "you" and "you" is the only thing that you can change. You cannot change others. Why feel the pain and hurt all over again? Let it go knowing you have "learned". Because you open to love doesn't mean it will happen again. You create your requirements for what you will accept and won't accept. www.starsedge.com

"love will seek you out and work on you until you can love"

and for that very reason love scares me....opening up is hard to do....even though it is all good...breaking the shell of old patterns is not easy ..feeling the hurt and pain all over again..but working on it at the moment with the help of a good psychotherapist...is it all just in my head?
