This is no surprise, but,... why are we always making animals act like humans? They are what they are and should be respected as such.

Man keeps setting the human/non-human barrier higher and higher in an effort to prove human superiority and the non-animals keep meeting each and every challenge. When will humans finally give up the need to claim the title of "crown of creation" and grant non-human animals the equality of consideration that has been denied them for so long? Of course, when that happens, there'll be no more viable pretext for hunting them, using them for experiments, for amusements, for clothing, and, needless to say, for eating them.

Baboons are far smarter than humans

How is this a surprising discovery? We have baboons on our sanctuary and it is clear how intelligent they are - not hard to discover when you care for them on a daily basis and spend a lot of time with them.
One of our baboons makes patterns and sculptures on their island, putting largest stones to smallest in order. This is a game she devised herself not something we gave her to do.

This is no surprise. What would really be amazing is if humans could learn to speak baboon.
