3 Ayurvedic Beauty Recipes

The doorway to deeper, inner beauty, Ayurveda beauty care is an herbal science. Designed to help you glow from within, these three facial treatments are designed to bring natural healing to your biggest organ, the skin.

Most of the ingredients in these recipes are available at health food stores.

Fragrant Facial Mask
2 tablespoons oatmeal (superfine regular oatmeal ground in a blender)
2 teaspoons goat milk powder
½ teaspoon clay—multani mitti clay (yellow clay from India), or plain white kaolin clay
1 teaspoon rose petal powder
1 teaspoon sandalwood powder
2 drops rose attar (essential rose oil from India infused in a sandalwood base)

Mix all dry ingredients in a small jar with a tight-fitting lid. Take half of the dry powder and mix in 1 ounce of warm water; to this, add one drop of rose attar. Apply with a brush or the fingers. Allow the application to remain on the skin for 15 to 20 minutes before rinsing off with warm water.

Almond Milk Cleanser
20 whole almonds
1 cup water
2 ounces rose hydrosol or lavender hydrosol
4 drops geranium essential oil
1 ounce vegetable glycerine

Soak the almonds overnight and peel them. Blend in blender with the water and until liquefied; strain to remove residuals. Add the hydrosol to the almond milk, then the geranium essential oil, and then the vegetable glycerin. Shake vigorously before use. If kept refrigerated in an airtight container, this cleanser can last up to two weeks.

Exfoliant/Scrub
1 part rice bran powder
1 part chickpea powder
¼ part hibiscus powder
¼ part rose powder
¼ part sandalwood powder
¼ part coriander powder

Mix the ingredients together. When ready to use, take the amount needed and add a few drops of water to moisten before applying with circular movements to face and neck.

Great beauty tips, thanks everyone! Yes Kay I love your cornmeal/oatmeal treatment. I can't wait to try them all.

Thank you :)

Poppy Pops

3 parts of Green Gram
1 Part of Rice
Little turmeric (Kasturi Manjal)

Grind all of it into a fine powder. You can mix little milk and make a paste and apply it on the face and body. A few drops of coconut oil can also be added. It is an awesome scrub. You may add more milk to soften the burning effect of turmeric.

This is an easy to prepare one with household ingredients.
Use a part of avocado, one of natural yoghurt, a half tea spoon of honey and a spoon of camomile tea. Apply it to your face and leave it for 20 mins then rinse well but allow some of the creammy feeling to stay all day. It has wonderful results.

Hello, again.... Another couple really cheap....GOOD remedies for beauty care....
Seperate an egg...... If your skin is oily, whip the egg white with a beater until it is a soft white foam.....Apply to face and throat. Let dry then rinse with lukewarm water, now apply a thin coat of honey and let set about 15 minutes. The Hony will help to stop any bacteria , to help with acne control..
Dry skin? Beat the YOLK only and apply to just washed skin. Let dry completely, wash off WELL and follow with the honey mask for 15 minutes, again, to soften and kill bacteria on skin! :)

To Joan M..... I have a couple I can't live without.....
Molasses /Sugar Scrub....
1/2 Cup Molasses added to 1/2 cup Plain Sugar..... Make a thick paste.... Step into shower, get good and wet and then scrub whole body gently with the mix. Rinse and wash with gentle Body shampoo or liquid soap.... WOW!!!!

Second Traetment....
I put 1/2 cupp of corn meal in one container and 1/2 cup powdered (blendered) Oatmeal in another....This is messy...BUT!
Wet down, scrub with the cormeal from head to toe, rinse well.....add warm water to the oatpowder to a medium thinned paste, rub into skin in a circular motion....rinse with barely warm water and let skin dry naturally. SILKY SILKY!!!
