September 22nd is World Carfree Day! Folks all over the world are pledging to ditch their cars and use bikes, transit, and their own two feet to get around.
Fuel and emissions from cars are major culprits in climate change. Cars are harming our oceans. They stress us out and cost us money in gas, maintenance, and parking. Tomorrow is a great opportunity to see what it’s like to get around without a gas guzzler.
It’s easy to get in on the action! You can join more than 1000 attendees worldwide on Facebook. Instead of hopping in the car for your daily commute tomorrow morning, just walk, bike, or take public transit to your destination.

It's a lot easier in some places than others. In Strasbourg people bring their bicycles onto the regional commuter trains all the time. In Athens, though, anyone riding a bicycle is putting their life in the hands of all the crazy drivers.
Choose life, abort the car! The great difficulty psychically is that the dependence upon the car is the ego construct: first, it says 'I belong' and second it creates an 'invidious comparison.' Not good...

I hope everyone remembers to arrive alive. I'm not the best advocate for biking because I argue against cars to the people that matter: workers, families, the old. All of them are addicted, and for many, the car gives them POWER over something in their daily life. A psychic trompe l'oeil, but what will help I believe is if you can ride with others; i.e., create numbers on the road. That will make a number of people think twice about filling-up that tank.

I want elected officials to support cycling for commuters, and make cycling safe for everyone with dedicated cycle paths. This will help people go car-free.
