Top 10 Causes of Death Around the World

Most humans don’t like to think about dying, but it’s an inevitability for all of us. How or why we will die isn’t something any of us can know for certain, but there are plenty of things that can tip the scales one way or the other.

Statistically, eating a fatty hamburger or smoking cigarettes is far more dangerous than flying on a plane or swimming with sharks, but which causes of death do you think get the biggest headlines?

Examining the top causes of death around the world can help us (and medical researchers) understand where the biggest threats and challenges lie. While we here in America worry about GMOs and BPA in our food packaging, millions around the world are still tackling simple problems like clean drinking water and malaria. These deaths are fully preventable, yet a lack of resources and political barriers have allowed them to continue.

Wondering about the biggest threat to life in your country? The interactive infographic below has some surprising statistics you’ve got to see to believe.

Looking at the info gram 6 causes of death in poor countries (malaria, tb etc.) could be almost eradicated if only they had better living conditions etc. and that is very sad and so unnecessary, in the wealthy world what I have COPD is the 6th killer disease (oh well I'm not alone) and fourth world wide. So thank you for the interesting statistics as I say the poor country's ones we should all be ashamed of.
