Top 10 Predators

Either run for your life or face the top 10 most feared predators of the animal kingdom.

10. Tarantula

Tarantula spiders are among the most feared animals on the planet, and with good reason. Not only are they giants, as spiders go, but they are such stealthy and skilled hunters that no small animal that wanders within their grasp stands a chance at survival. The typical hunting modus operandi for tarantulas is to be patient. They lie in wait for a hapless passerby and then pounce without warning. Because of their size, they can reach 5 inches in length with a 12-inch leg span; tarantulas are able to quickly subdue their prey and crush them with their large fangs. Finally, they shower their victim’s body with digestive juices and then lap up the resulting fluid. Delicious!

This article is far from precise. Where is the dragonfly?

They eat on average 30 to 100 insects a day and manage to catch their prey almost every time they try. They beat all of these animals on this list on efficiency and hunger as predator, but because they are not dangerous to humans, people forget about them.

The human should be included

Thanks for the info. I have to agree that the most alarming predators are the ones that lurk under water! The black mamba and the wolf were beautiful. The picture of the Komodo dragon just made me laugh (which I'm sure would not be my response if I ever met one!). It's making such a funny face that it looks like it needs some sort of lolcat-ish caption :)

Good luck running from a piranha! lol

Yes many predators out there, we should just leave them alone and not encroach into their environment - the mosquito small as it is, is responsible for millions of deaths through malaria, and the hippo is more dangerous than the lion - we could go on and on, but the animal kingdom is always fascinating. The most dangerous and destructive of them all is of course the human.
