‘Vegan is Love’ Children’s Book

‘Vegan is Love’ Children’s Book

A new children’s book is about to be on the shelves, but it’s not your average Cat in the Hat. It teaches kids about veganism.

It’s called Vegan Is Love: Having Heart and Taking Action, and it’s all about introducing young readers to veganism as not only a diet choice but as a lifestyle of compassion and action.

Author and illustrator Ruby Roth hopes the book will broaden the scope of her popular first book That’s Why We Don’t Eat Animals, where she illustrated how our daily diet choices affect not just our local communities, but our world as a whole.

If you pick up Vegan Is Love, you can expect to learn things like:

  • What we can do to protect animals and the environment
  • The opportunities we have to make ethical decisions by doing things like refusing products tested on animals
  • Avoiding sea parks and zoos
  • Choosing to buy organic food

Roth’s message is direct but tactful, and she believes it’s an important one to communicate. She hopes to share what it means to “put our love into action” with today’s youth, and even includes resources at the back of the book that provide children with ways to take action themselves and create a more sustainable and compassionate world.

The book is available for pre-order online and the official release date is April 24. Suggested age level is seven and up, and grade level is second and up.

What a great book! The minute I became vegan is the minute my heart, my mind and my actions were all aligned and I've never felt better!! As someone once said, "You eat meat and dairy, you contribute to animal abuse."

Dee is absolutely right about not being able to find any medical problems with a vegan diet. The opposite is true. I have no medical probems and I'm 81. There might be problems if the vegan diet is poor - short on whole foods like veggies, fruits, and grains. But as feeling deprived, I'm not. There are loads of delicious vegan foods to make. Of late, I have been watching the Jazzy Vegetarian on PBS and she shows us how to prepare easy delicious vegan dishes. However, it is necessary to take a B-12 supplement, though even meat eaters also benefit from taking this supplement as well.

It's not inherently bad, but many people have individual health issues that can make a vegan diet bad for them.

Many people have individual health issues that make eating meat very bad for them, for example, heart disease, artherosclerosis, colon cancer, diabetes, morbid obesity, endometriosis, kidney disease, hypertension etc, etc.

I stopped meat and dairy some years ago and I have never felt better nor have I been as trim as I am now in my entire adult life.

What a wonderful idea for a children's book. I'd buy this for my kids if I had any, maybe someday.
