Warning: Dangerous Playground Equipment

Some manufactured playsets used in school and backyard playgrounds pose unseen health and safety hazards. One issue in particular–the use of wood treated with chromated copper arsenate, better known as CCA–has recently created a firestorm of controversy for the risks it poses to children’s health. You’ll also want to be on the lookout for other safety and health hazards, from improperly designed equipment to lead paint. Find out what to watch out for to keep your children safe when they play on backyard equipment.

Children should be allowed to play , but along with it we should keep in mind the cleanliness
of the surrounding area and the playground equipment on which they are suppose to play.

The copper coated wood is used because it doesn't rot or get insects, but it out gases something awful. There has to be a better way.

That's really a topic of concern but we can't stop our toddler outside activities in which these playground equipments are very important. I think we should switch to Eco friendly playground equipments.. like wooden playground Equipment
