What’s Your Walk Score?

How walkable is your neighborhood? Is your grocery store or coffee shop close enough to walk to, or do you find the need to jump into the car every time you need a carton of milk?

Walk Score, www.walkscore.com, will rate how walkable your neighborhood is by calculating the distance your home is compared to groceries, restaurants, coffee shops and more.

If you score low, this might be a good thing to keep in mind next time you are shopping for a new place to live. Walking is beneficial for your health, in reducing greenhouse gases and also allows you to support local businesses.

What’s your neighborhood’s walk score?

I live in the Country & must drive to get to the stores. But what I do is take my 2 dogs for long walks everyday twice a day.I've maintained my weight loss this way for 5yrs Also when I'm parking the car I park far away from the shopping center. There's alot a person can do.

This is pretty cool tool for anyone looking for a new place to live. I'm going to be moving in January and will definitely check out the 'walk score' of wherever I move to.
At the moment, I'm lucky because I live close enough to walk or cycle to work. Now that I've got into this habit, I don't want to stop so getting somewhere with amenities within walking distance is pretty important.
Thanks for sharing.

We ran a Walk to School day today at our school with fantastic turnout. I'd give our students an "A" score for walking today!
