Even though we all identify with a very limited slice of time and space, equating “me” with one body and one mind, in reality you also live outside yourself in the field of awareness.

The Vedic seers say, “The real you cannot be squeezed into the volume of a body or the span of a lifetime.” Just as reality flows from the virtual to the quantum to the material level, so do you. Whether we call this reincarnation or not almost doesn’t matter.

The package of body and mind that came before is a stranger to you now, and the one that might arise after your death is equally alien. But on a deeper level, millions of seeds have already been planted. Some are the thoughts you will have tomorrow or the actions you will follow a decade from now.

Time is flexible at the quantum level and nonexistent at the virtual level. As we watch these seeds sprouting in the fertile field of time and space, awareness wakes up to itself. This is how a single fertilized cell learns to become a brain – it wakes up to itself, not on the chemical level but on the level of awareness.

All of the quantum and virtual levels are open to us all the time. To navigate them completely is impossible; they open up to us according to our own needs and abilities. But no part is intentionally closed off. Although we normally look no deeper than the personal domain, to look deeper is always possible.

The fact that we are not confined to our physical body and mind gives us reason to believe in the existence of a cosmic intelligence that permeates life – and brings us close to the mind of God.

Debra I believe that the consideration of the abortion of a fetus is like a mother putting her elbow into the tub to test the water for her child. In the animal kingdom a mother bears the responsibility to bring forth her young only in the most beneficial conditions and if her heat makes her become pregnant when conditions aren't right for a new born, if humans have forced her to come into heat artificially she will kill and cannibalize her young at birth. Mother rabbit cannibalizes her fetuses if she is stressed, and since she is a prey animal that is allot, Mother bear who is the best of all mothers and held as a sacred example, will kill her young rather then see them raised in confinement of a zoo behind bars, she will not bear her children into slavery and in prison. Animals are totally aware of their relationship with eternity and while they treasure and protect this life will also let it go being the perfect pragmatists that they are. My cats teach me the lesson of pure love and zero sentimentality since the latter is a byproduct of our abstract thought capacity. All children should only be born into the conditions which will be best for their life here.It is the mother's responsibility to assure that. There are too many humans on this planet. At least let the ones we open the gates of life for be wholly loved and cherished for themselves alone, not what they symbolize and surely not to feed the insane egos of men who fancy themselves as the voice of god.

Steve you sound so aggressively sure of that, almost hostile. Why does it provoke your ire? I know why I'm sure we live multi lives. Are you afraid of being disappointed. True this is the only life we lead as the selves we are now but though I like this me I won't be over stressed to say goodbye to it as I have done in this life so many times. The selves I have been in years past are practically unrecognizable to the now me, I'm sure it's the same with you. This life must be treasured because it's the only one where we are this particular person with this personality but the transience of those over-leaves of how we define ourselves isn't a bad thing. We just get to try out and master different combinations. I have certain memories and experience in this life that make me certain of how I view the relationship I have to eternity; it sounds like you are coming from a wholly intellectual stance, just the hostility and the coldness you put forth your comment with makes me think so and while the intellect is the tool for bridging and connecting and abstracting ideas it isn't reliable for ascertaining all knowledge nor is it even capable in some areas.I'm interested to hear your response. Will it be coldly arrogant or will I hear some original thinking here? We make a choice before we are born about what we will remember or realize about our immortal nature when we are incarnate and we make that choice according to what we think will most benefit our aims and goals for this life,

Debra Holliday

Uma, very interesting posts. I assume that you are pro-life because you believe that we have souls that live from time to time and are conscious before a body is formed in the womb of its current mother? Just curious, because it makes all the sense in the world to me.

This life after death and being reborn again is all so much bull. There is no life after you die. and you won't be coming back EVER plain and simple. We all have one shot on this planet, make good use of it, cause its all you'll ever get.

Now we have reached the end of time as we knew it. The Western experiment of shutting out all awareness of the united consciousness of All That Is has reached it's climax in the creation of highly abstracted thought which has finally made full circuit in the discovery of Quantum and all the technological repercussions of that line of thought. It has come full circle back to the magical and mystical awarenesses, so despised and looked down upon as "primitive and childish" by the members of humanity of "Western" culture.Quantum mechanics, the child of "Western" science, is proving true all that the mystics have always maintained as to the nature of reality and human relation to All That Is.The prophets of old, Nostradamus and back, those minds loose in time, foresaw the end of the world as they knew it and we have long passed that marker. As world human awareness grasps the concepts and works with them the vibrations of Gaia (the world entity consciousness) are speeded. As I type these words into computer the awareness of my thoughts is simultaneously known world wide. I don't know the word for what would transcend geometric progression since it must be dimensional but everything is multiplying at that rate of growth. "Quantum" has become common on the tongue, spoken without conscious meaning. We are taking for granted what was previously conceptually impossible and this quickening is universal allowing for more awareness.Love is the fastest, most transformative, vibration.

Dearest Rayad I think that wether or not we allow ourselves that awareness is a personal decision made before birth to create the optimal conditions for what we wish to take from the mortal moment. As I think I said in the first comment that the site computer didn't post the decisions and choices made by someone who believed this life was all he had will have a different intensity than one who remembers his immortal nature and the ramifications of these choices will be different. Spiritual growth is a growth in self awareness in relation to the whole, the All That Is, proceeding from making choices and assuming responsibility for the results. For instance if one finds oneself in an environment that is religiously repressive, we put ourselves there perhaps many times, to give ourselves the opportunity for all the gains to be made by facing whatever fear and danger those tyrannical forces bring to bear. If different members of our soul family choose to embody different members of the drama to gain choice experience from their parts they are still, like all that is, experiments seeking self enlightenment and pursuing it from different angles. The oppressed has the choice to rebel, the tyrant has the choice for love and kindness, the sheep have the choice to find themselves and individualize enhancing their capacity for choices and growth. The mortal dramas we engage in have to be believable to be of use so anything that challenges the accepted reality norm is tabu and punished.

Wow, Uma, your experiences are very interesting and helpful to those of us that have thoughts of possible past lives. Although everyone has their own opinion and nobody is wrong or right since we can't actually prove much of what is said, I believe that, initially, we were not suppose to "remember" our past lives since it can be distracting to our current purpose and plans in this life. However, I have seen an increase in people with past life memory recall and a sense of "knowing" of their lives that tends to be permeating more and more throughout the world. Like there is a lifting of the veil between the spirit world and this world. Those of us that are not aware of this and go about in our daily lives are just following their lives blueprint which is perfectly fine. But if there is a small urge, a spark of curiosity to want to know who we are and where do we come from, then that knowledge is more available today than was ever before! It is truly an amazing time to be alive.
In my opinion, God, or Univesal Mind or The all that there is, is slowly descending and manifesting in its creation making itself known. It will come to a crescendo where the darkness of the room that we were all accustomed to will suddenly be bright and we will see others and ourselves as we truly are.
Many blessings.

I remember having very little experience in the "West" and then as a non Westerner, a Gypsy in Spain in the Nazi times. I am aware of many different lives here in the Americas, as an Aztec and as a Northern Plains N.A. during the bad time. I am quite connected to the Dravidian me in the Mohenjo Daro, pre Vedic culture. Perhaps I was an Asura since I remember when God drank the poison that came to the surface with the nectar of bliss and my concept of God created in that time remains with me here. I have existence in Egypt. I know these things because of my irrational fears and attractions, because of things that make these things that seem so strange to most familiar to me. I easily remember words and phrases in Ancient Egyptian, Sanskrit and Arabic,Spanish is a language I can dream in. I'm MAD for Northern Style Powwow music. One way to tell about your other lives is to become aware of the irrational emotional responses to different times and cultures. If you see a movie and find yourself terrified or longing, like with homesickness, for another experience, chances are that you are there too.Souls travel together like flocks of birds. In my family, a typical Connecticut/N.Y. Jewish, agnostic Scientific Materialist group. My mother was very drawn to Aztec and Mayan culture and felt home in Mexico while my father shares a love of Hindu culture , art and music. My mother and my sisters share with me a love of Egypt. Both my parents with myself are mad for Flamenco.

Before I was born into this life I planted certain cues into the fetus that would incorporate me to develop into conscious awareness at the appropriate stimuli. Just before puberty I had a series of dreams showing me my death in different lives and after experiencing it was able to have some awareness of what came before. There was one that showed me myself in another time and place beginning in youth and leaving me somewhere in the early phases.I assume because it was, though a different time and place, concurrent because I hadn't died in that one yet.All my life choices have been inspired by these awarenesses. They left me with a certainty of personal immortality while treasuring this manifestation because I know that it is the only one where I am this "me". I don't fear the disintegration of this personality since even in the scope of this life I have "died" so many times as to be unrecognizable to my self. Sometimes I am glad that this persona, not ME but the personality I wear to create the experiences I need, is mortal, that's when I get tired of my self. Other times I am content in who I am now and treasure each phase of my mortality as seasons bringing their own ,truly unique, gifts.
Despite the mythology attached to dream deaths dying in a dream doesn't cause physical death since I have done so . If you find yourself about to die in a dream and manage to stay in the dream throughout the experience you might find it very interesting.

This article reminds me of what I red long ago.Himalaya- way of
searching for absolute truth by first step-knowing yourself.
I didn`t practice and forgot a lot. I could notice
that real teacher emphasis power of consciousness/second me/in understanding of universe. Those people were mentally very strong.Practice needs many years and common people are stuck with everyday obligations. Take care who is your mental mentor.
