Why Green Jobs Are Worth Keeping Around [Infographic]

Why Green Jobs Are Worth Keeping Around [Infographic]

Last week House Speaker John Boehner told the House that he would shut down the government unless they agreed to kill a loan program that would help Detroit automakers make hybrid cars.

In typical spineless-Washington fashion, the House obliged.

But in a time when creating more jobs is at the forefront of most American minds, it’s hard to see why Boehner would want to deliver such a fatal blow to Detroit’s struggling auto industry. Using the loan (not free money, a loan) to reconfigure old factories to make new hybrids would have helped create or protect approximately 40,000 jobs…

…Jobs that are part of America’s future as a clean energy leader, not its past.

The infographic below explains more about the myriad of benefits that are possible when we support green jobs. Maybe Boehner should take a look.

not sure that small cars as hybrids are a high priority for me - more buses and bicycles, helping people make goods and grow food closer to where people use and eat them, cleaning up coal powered generators.

No, I think he was right on. THE LAST THING WE NEED ARE MORE CARS, hybrid or not!! If the loan was for the purpose of converting auto assembly factories into BICYCLE manufacturing warehouses, I think many more green jobs would be created.

The world needs more sustainable transport.

There is another reason for Boehner's threat. Anything at all that is going to help the USA to recover now is not going to be given a go because the sole aim of the Republicans is to make Obama a one term president.
The fact that they are going to destroy the earth while they are doing that is of no consequence to them because they are so focused on their goal.

It is indeed horrific what the republicans in congress are doing - but we must not forget who voted them in. We the people acted like silly fools and voted in one of our own to lead us! Next time make sure you tell two democratic friends to get out and vote!!! And tell them to tell two friends.
And we do have a long way to go on the "Green" conversion. I know for a fact that recycled plastic is melted down without being cleaned first, it is then converted into (amongst other items) plastic wrap which is then used to cover our food esp. in Supermarkets. We have to think a little more deeply than we are at the moment, although we are on the right track.

Bow chicka bow? I thought it was boom chicka boom.

I don't have a dog, but I found this very informative. Thank you.

Absolutely adorable but I still wish that everyone would get their cats and dogs spayed or neutered.…
