Wisdom from Elana Peled

Every one of us has in our lifetime the opportunity to learn and to grow and to be more than we ever imagined we could be. My life’s experiences have proven this to be true!

But like many people, when I was young I was taught that I was here on earth to be the person that the people in my immediate environment, my family, needed me to be.

I learned that I should strive to be the person that the world around me told me I should be. These lessons eventually made me tremendously unhappy.

In desperation, I attempted to heed the advice of unknown others to follow my heart and pursue my own dreams. At first, following this advice was terrifying.

Years of study have taught me why it is so hard for so many people to pursue the lives of their dreams. I have also discovered that understanding a few basic principles about how humans are wired can help anyone to achieve their goals and fulfill their dreams.

Thank You. I go by 'realizing that the present moment is all a person ever has', so live in the moment.

Great observation Lauren W. I think I'd venture a different explaination tho. If we 'made a mistake' that resulted in a negative outcome, instead of our brain registaring it as safe, maybe our brain is just trying to figure out what happened to cause the unwanted event, and because of it's focus on it, more of the same thing keeps happening, as in like energy attracts like energy.
Sandi O,instead if trying to quiet your mind, maybe you could just sit still for awhile and just listen to the brain chatter. You'll be surprised how much conflicting ideas are going on, and eventually, you'll get bored and realize most of it doesn't matter anyway, or there's nothing you can do about it, and it will all just swirl down the drain and you're have some wonderful moments of uninterupted bliss floating in a sea of undefined awareness.
