Yoga Heals With Breath of Fire

Yoga Heals With Breath of Fire

Even as I begin to write this, I notice that I am holding my breath. It’s true what they say, old habits die hard.

The restriction of one’s breath literally restricts one’s life.

In this moment, I can feel that holding my breath is restricting the flow of my energy, leaving me heavy and sleepy. I’d rather go back to bed. My knowledge about Breath of Fire, the healing yoga technique I promised to share today, has vanished. Feeling lost, I turn to my trusted Kundalini Yoga books and even a Google search. But instead of finding my way back to the task at hand, I feel frustrated because the words… don’t compute? My brain can’t make sense of what I’m looking at, even when I read them aloud.

It is the absolute absence of creative flow that threatens me the most, both personally and professionally. I love to write. When I do it well, people’s hearts and minds are opened and I believe that’s what I was born to do. Additionally, I lean heavily on my creativity (and intuition, which also vanishes when I hold my breath) to guide me during sessions with my coaching clients. When I don’t breathe, I don’t function.

So, I will stop for three minutes of Breath of Fire… and then I will return to my writing. Of course, it worked.

The expansion of one’s breath literally expands one’s life.

When we are open and breathing deeply, we allow the flow of life force energy. Quite simply, we invite the best of who we are to guide us through the moments, days, and months that make up our lives. Breathing allows us access to all of the magical, powerful, creative parts of ourselves. That access makes for a beautiful, empowered, enriched life experience.

Living the life of our dreams isn’t possible without allowing breath to flow in and out of our bodies, fully and regularly.

That’s the sort of strange shit I find myself saying these days.

Next: You can find me in the deep end of the you-too-can-change-your-life industry swimming pool…
