One of Care2’s Wisdom Keeper Series.

Osho–an enlightened being called Zorba the Buddha by some–offended many people.
Why is that? He said, “I am not a messiah, and I am not a missionary. And I am not here to establish a church or to give a doctrine to the world, a new religion, no. My effort is totally different: a new consciousness not a new religion, a new consciousness not a new doctrine.”

What were his teachings? What is to offend? What is your opinion?

Love this! Can't see how a wonderful man like Zorba being called a Buddha would offend anyone. He was a heck of a lot closer than most of us get. We all do need to expand our minds and let the light in. Wonderful article! :)

i love Zorba the Buddha. i have always loved Zorba. In order to become our best Buddha we must first become our best Zorba. Too many people "get religion" and try to become godly without ever having truly lived. Zorba genuinely loved life, in the book and movie, and that's how we need to become, to love and truly live our life and then to become our version of Buddha. Life was not meant to be sacrificed but to be lived. If you've never truly lived your life, how can you surrender it to your Buddha-nature? You can't surrender what you don't own.
