Email Filters

Filters enable you to define rules for your incoming messages. To customize your filters, go to the Options page.

Automatic Filing

Automatic Filing rules allow you to move incoming E-mail to other folders according to the criteria you specify. You can define up to five Automatic Filing rules and enable each rule individually.

To define an Automatic Filing rule:

1. Click on the Automatic Filing link on the Filters page.
2. Click the Add link at the top of the page.
3. Use the pull-down menu to select the message header field (Subject, From, To, cc) on which the rule will operate.
4. Select Contains or Doesn't Contain, as appropriate.
5. Enter the text that you want to filter.
6. Select the folder where you wish to move your messages.
7. To delete a rule, mark the check box next to the appropriate rule and click the Delete button in the horizontal toolbar.

Click the Active box in order to activate the Automatic Filing of messages. If this check box is empty, the Automatic Filing feature will not be activated. Save the rules you have defined by clicking the Save button in the horizontal toolbar.

Note: Rules are applied in consecutive order. For example, if a message matches the criteria in rule #1, it will be filtered according to that rule. If the message does not match rule #1, it will continue on to the next rule.

Automatic Deletion

Automatic Deletion rules allow you to delete incoming E-mail according to the criteria you specify. You can define up to five Automatic Deletion rules and enable each rule individually.

To define an Automatic Deletion rule:

1. Click on the Automatic Deletion link on the Filters page.
2. Click the Add link at the top of the page.
3. Use the pull-down menu to select the message header field (Subject, From, To, cc) on which the rule will operate.
4. Select Contains or Doesn't Contain, as appropriate.
5. Enter the text that you want to filter.
6. In order to delete a rule, mark the check box next to the appropriate rule and click the Delete button in the horizontal toolbar.

Click the Active box in order to activate the Automatic Deletion of messages. If this check box is empty, the Automatic Deletion feature will not be activated. Save the rules you have defined by clicking the Save button in the horizontal toolbar.

Avoiding Spam/Inappropriate Emails

We respect your privacy and NEVER disclose your e-mail address to third parties without your explicit permission. If you are receiving a flood of unwanted e-mail, porn, or otherwise, you can automatically exclude Care2 as a cause.

Tips for dealing with spammers: DO NOT click on, open, or respond to spam email - if you do, you'll likely be verifying to them that your address is functioning, and you'll just receive more unwanted mail. Do NOT post your email address on your personal homepage, or forward-on chain email letters - spammers often create automated scripts to search these sources for email addresses. Do set up filters on your email system to block unwanted mail, as described below.

Go to your Care2 e-mail account and follow these steps:

1. Click on "OPTIONS"
2. Look up into the green bar area and find and click on "FILTERS"
3. Click on "SAFETY FILTERS"
4. Scroll through your e-mail blocking options. You may choose to do any of the following:
   • Block the spammers--This option is automatically checked for you and blocks messages from known bulk E-mail addresses.
   • Safety control
     • Green List--list e-mail addresses which you will accept messages from. This option will block messages from any addresses which you do not list.
     • Red List--list e-mail addresses from which you do not want to receive mail.
     • Receive mail from anyone--this option will remove any restrictions you have set; it is the "default"/standard option.
5. Scroll the the bottom of the page and click SAVE.

Vacation Reply

The Vacation Reply rule enables you to send an automatic reply to incoming mail. This feature can be used when you are on vacation to automatically acknowledge receipt of incoming mail.

To define a Vacation Reply rule:

1. Click on the Vacation Reply link on the Filters page.
2. Check the Enable Auto Vacation Reply box.
3. Specify a start date and an end date between which the automatic reply will be sent. For example, if you are going on vacation, specify the first and last dates of your vacation.
4. Enter a subject for your reply in the Subject box.
5. Enter the text of the message in the Message Text box.
6. Press OK to save your changes.
7. Have a great trip!
