To post an image into a discussion thread, you must first save the image to an online photo album. Then go the image in the album, right-click and select copy link location. Then go the thread and use the insert image tool to paste in the link. You may also drag and drop the image in or use copy and paste.
If you continue to experience trouble, try asking someone on your friend's list or someone new who has a big friend's list (this is a good indicator that they're familiar with the Care2 system). Most users will be happy to assist you with some pointers. There are also a number of member-run help groups on Care2. Visit the main groups page and try searching for related groups and discussions.

There are two ways to unjoin a group. The first is to go to your "My Groups" page then scroll down to the group in question and click on "Leave Group". The other way is click the "Unjoin" link on the group's homepage.

8/14/2007 - Update - the system has been restored
Care2's personal messaging broke early this morning during the site outage. Our engineers are repairing the database tables, a process that may take a few hours. Unfortunately, due to the problem the bodies of the messages were never created so you may never know who sent you the greenstar, etc. The system was affected from approximately 3:30am - 8:30am Pacific Time.

If you're receiving this error it means that your email address is already associated with an account. If you've signed a petition on the PetitionSite in the past, an account may have already been created for you. Having trouble adding music to your eCards?
When you click on the music icon you'll see a pop-up window with all the different songs available listed by category. If you click on the speaker icon you can listen to the song sample. Important! The next step is to highlight the song by clicking on the song title BEFORE clicking select. Missing that last step will cause the system to NOT add your song correctly.
If you are using Internet Explorer to send or receive your card, you may be experiencing a problem hearing the sound on your computer. This is a known bug that our engineers are working hard to resolve. The music is being attached but some reason your browser isn't recognizing it. If you open the card in FireFox or another browser, you should be able to hear the music. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope to have this issue resolved quickly.
Music on Preview
When you preview your card you should hear the music you've added. If you do not, please make sure your speakers are on and than you've followed the above steps.
We are working with our engineers to fix this bug so that clicking on the music sample speaker icon will automatically highlight the song but until this happens please bear with us.

Incoming Mail
If you're experiencing trouble with incoming emails, please ask your contacts if they are receiving Failure Delivery Notices and to read the instructions contained in the message. If they are unable to determine the problem, please forward us a copy of the failure notice received when sending to your account.
Outgoing Mail
If you've received a bounced delivery notice, please read and follow the instructions within the notice.
If you did not receive a bounced delivery notice, please send us details of what you are experiencing. Including:
- Error Messages Received

External Email Bouncing
If you are not receiving your Care2 Newsletters and/or Group Messages your account may be bouncing. Care2 organizes bounces into two types: Hard Bounce and Soft Bounce
Hard Bounce
If the error message we get back from your email provider says either of the following:
- your email account does not exist
- your ISP refuses all email from Care2
...then we consider your account to be "hard bouncing." You will not receive any Care2 email until you notify our support team that your account is still active.
Soft Bounce
If the error message we get back from your email provider doesn't fall under the definition of a Hard Bounce (see above), then the error is considered a Soft Bounce. If your account generates an occasional soft bounce error, it will be logged but no other action will be taken by Care2. However, if your email account consistently generates soft bounce errors for several days, then your account will be considered bouncing. In this case, you will not receive any Care2 email until our support team is notified that your account is still active. You may notify us through this help form by clicking on the button below.

To block these messages from reaching your inbox follow these steps:

Click on Options
Click on Automatic Deletion
Enter in a email address or subject to use as a filter
Make sure to check in the box at the top and save your settings
You may also set up a spam folder (Click on My Folders and then New Folder) and use the Automatic Filters option if you prefer to screen the messages before deletion.

The role of corporate sponsors on the Care2 website is very similar to advertisers in other forms of media: newspapers, magazines, radio and television. However, the criteria we use for selecting appropriate sponsors are more similar to public broadcasting, public radio (NPR) and publications such as National Geographic. We seek out responsible companies with products that are more health-oriented and sustainable than what is typically available in the market. We also think it is appropriate to recognize companies that are making a genuine effort to be more responsible and help the environment. However, accepting advertising from a company is not an endorsement of that company.
We don’t claim to be an expert on screening products, services and companies for their social and environmental impact, but we try our best to be consistent in applying our criteria and being honest with our members. We believe there are good companies that want to support the mission of Care2 and make a difference in the world. One of our most important commitments to our members is to not allow deceptive advertising or harmful products on our site. We will not accept advertising for gambling, pornography, alcohol, firearms or tobacco products. We listen to our members’ feedback and consult with our nonprofit partners to understand their views on our sponsorship policies.
There are disagreements even among well informed, highly committed people regarding what companies or products are acceptable. For example, Ford Motor Company is frequently a target for environmental groups yet it was the first U.S. auto company to offer a hybrid vehicle. William Clay Ford -CEO of Ford is targeted partly because he is considered more likely to respond than other auto executives. We pursued a sponsorship opportunity for the Ford Escape Hybrid because we believed it set the right example for other auto companies. We have also had a sponsorship with Toyota for their RAV4 electric vehicle and several sponsorships with Honda/Acura.
We believe it is more important to focus on the influence and intent of the product than the company. Consumers can send a strong message to a company by purchasing only its more responsible products and supporting its responsible initiatives. When responsible products are successful in the marketplace, companies become motivated to create more. There are companies trying to make a difference in industries with a poor environmental or nutritional record such as oil, autos and fast food. This is why we do not ban SUVs as a category and will accept sponsorships for vehicles that set a positive example for the auto industry. There are oil companies such as British Petroleum and Chevron that are taking positive steps to be more responsible. We have had Burger King as a sponsor for a new line of healthy salads and vegetarian burgers. We have also had a sponsorship with Ronald McDonald House Charities because they are helping families in need.
Sponsorship decisions are sometimes controversial. There are times when we may choose to accept a sponsorship for a good product or company that is owned by a parent corporation with a controversial reputation. It is not uncommon for a small, responsible company to be acquired by a larger corporation in order to survive in an increasingly competitive marketplace. Sometimes the parent corporation is looking for ways to be more responsible. Some examples of progressive companies in this situation are Ben and Jerry`s -owned by Unilever, Cascadian Farms -owned by General Mills, Horizon Organic -owned by Dean Foods and Odwalla -owned by Coca-Cola, Tom`s of Maine -owned by Colgate.
When we work with advertising networks such as Google we try to screen for ads that don’t meet our criteria, but there are times when an unacceptable sponsor may appear. Since Care2 has a higher standard than other sites in these advertising networks we are not always able to implement our criteria with them. We limit the number of impressions or ad space for advertising networks to less than 5% of the total on Care2 and remove inappropriate ads as necessary.

Posting Images into Threads

Posting Videos into Threads
The process for posting videos is actually much easier seeming as the videos from YouTube, Google, JumpCut, and VMIX (the compatible video sites) are already hosted online. In your discussion post simple type the following, "video:http//www.VideoUrlHere.com/example" and hit preview. You should be able to view your video in the preview screen. If you do not, please verify the URL and make sure it's from a compatible website.

Group owners may now transfer ownership of their groups via the group management console. Look under "General Settings" and click on "Transfer Ownership" then select the new owner from the list of existing group hosts. If your new owner is not yet a host, you'll need to add them via the "Host Setup/Privileges" link on the console.
Completing the Transfer
Please make sure that your new hosts go to the group page and accepts their new hosting position. Your new host will not show up as host until they have accepted. Once this has been done you will be able to transfer ownership.
Adopting Groups
If there is no owner (or absent hosts) in a group that you wish to adopt, please send us the URL of the group along with details of your request. Thank you!

Under 13 Error
If you are under the age of 13, you must ask for your parents permission to register for a Care2 account. Please have your parents create the account for you.
If you are over 13 but are receiving the under 13 error message, you most likely entered in the incorrect email address. No worries...please visit the Sign-up Page. Please be patient, it may take awhile for the system to refresh and allow your computer to create an account.
Email Address Taken
If you receive an error that your email address is already taken, you most likely signed a petition using this email address. The system automatically creates an account for unrecognized email addresses used during petition signing. The account is necessary in order to facilitate the signing process. You may retrieve the password on the account here. Please note: passwords are case sensitive we recommend you copy & paste the password into the login form.
Other
If no account is found matching your email address but the system is still giving you an email related error message, we recommend opening the account with a different email address and then changing your address after the account is created. The change email option is located under `My Account` and `Contact Info`.

To Upload a new profile photo, click on Connect, then 'My Page'. Then use the 'Add Photos' link near the top of the page.
Follow the instructions to upload your new photo from your computer. Please note that you may need to refresh your browser in order for the new image to show up properly.
If you have selected your profile image from your photo album and are experiencing trouble with the image displaying correctly, please try uploading the image from your hard drive using the directions above.

Trouble deleting saved personal messages?
Please move the message to your inbox and then try again. Our engineers have been alerted to the problem and are working on fixing the feature. Please do not submit a support request in regards to this.
Group Messaging Features:
Are your members reporting that they aren't receiving their group messages?
They may be bouncing...to find out, go your Group Management Console and click on 'Members' under Member Management. Scroll down through the list until you find the member and look under 'Delivery Status.'
If they are bouncing AND their email address is valid, please let us know the email address. We'll reset their account to allow delivery of Care2 mail.
Hotmail Users:
If you have unsubscribed from a group's messages from your email account but wish to resubscribe...you'll need to remove the group email address from your blocked list within your hotmail account.

Trouble uploading images?
If you are using the Easy Upload Tool with Firefox and can't upload images, you probably have Firefox version 2.0.0.8. You'll need to update your browser to the latest version. To check for version updates, go to the help menu in your browser window and click on check for updates. This should resolve the problem.
If you're experiencing a different issue with uploading or that fix did not work for you, please send us the URL to the image or album where the problem is occurring along with any error messages received. Please also include details regarding the steps you are taking and the results you are seeing.
Recently Change your Profile Photo?
If you recently changed your profile photo but still see your old photo displayed in different areas throughout the site, our system is designed to store the old photo in its memory to make it easier to display when you are on the website. We chose this default to aid our users with slower internet connections.
If you hit the refresh/reload button on your browser, or the F5 (or Crtl-F5) key on your keyboard, your browser will load the new image. If you'd prefer to have your browser always check for newer page versions, try adjusting your browser settings.

Trouble publishing?
If you are unable to publish your petition it may be because of the format of your personalized URL. Read the error message that says your petition is saved but not published, it should give details. If it is your personalized URL click on the "Custom Features" tab and make sure your URL does not contain any special characters and words are separated with dashes (-).
Trouble uploading an image?
For the image you are trying to upload please be sure that it is in .jpg, .gif, or .png format, and under 1 MB in size.

To remove signatures from your petition, go to the My PetitionSite page, click on the 'Manage Petition' link next to the petition you would like a report for, and then select 'Delete individual Signatures' from the links provided.
To request removal of your own signature from a petition please contact the owner of the petition and give them your signature number or approximate date/time signed. Thanks!

Edit Petition
To edit your petition, please go to My PetitionSite page while logged in as the petition owner, and click on the 'Promote' or 'Edit/Publish' Link next to your petition.
Manage Petition
Petition sponsors are responsible for ensuring that petition responses and signatures are delivered to the target. If you would like to create signature reports, and hide offensive comments submitted to your petition, click on MyPetitionsite in the upper right corner under your name and then click on the 'Promote' link next to the petition you would like a report for, and then select 'Deliver Petition to Target' near the bottom of the list.
Select the format of your preference and click the create document button. It will take some time for the system to generate your report. You will receive an email to notify you when the report is ready for download.
How can I change the URL of my petition after its been published?
Unfortunately you cannot (without unpublishing your petition and loosing all of your signatures). If you wish to unpublish your petition and start over, you have two options. One option is to create a new petition and send us a request to remove the old. Another option is to go to your petition dashboard (click on MyPetitionsite in the upper right corner under your name and then click on manage next to the petition) and copy the URL. Send us the URL of the petition. We will unpublish your petition for you and send you further directions.
Please keep in mind...if your petition is showing up in Google (and other search engine) searches changing your URL is a bad idea, you will lose your spot in the search results.

After signing petitions an automatic Thank You message will be sent to the email address that you signed with. There is no way to disable the Thank You messages. However, there are ways to divert them from your inbox.
Most email providers include filtering features for your mailbox. You may want to setup a filter that diverts these Thank You messages into a specific folder.

International Signers
Our system does accept International signatures. Please leave the state blank, select your country from the list and use 00000 for your zip code.
US Signers
Is the system rejecting your zip code? Try using 00000 for your zip code instead. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Signature Not Appearing
The system will only allow each person to sign each petition once. If you've received a confirmation letter but your signature does not appear where it should, please check your signed petitions. Click on the petition in question to view the date/time you signed the petition.
If you are trying to sign a petition using the same computer as someone else, there are couple things you'll need to do. One, make sure you are not logged into someone else's account before signing. Two, use a unique email address to sign the petition (meaning family members may sign the same petition but they must use separate email addresses).
If you made a mistake on your comments, we are unable to edit this field. Sorry for the inconvenience, please proofread your submissions before signing.
