Victoria Strong is truly a hero in ever sense of the word. She courageously loves and cares for her terminally ill and fully paralyzed two year old daughter who has SMA (spinal muscular atrophy) around the clock and somehow has found the energy to found the Gwendolyn Strong Foundation. Despite the exhaustion she feels from the physical demands of caring for Gwendolyn and the emotional pain of knowing she is going to lose her daughter, Victoria works day and night to garner funds for a cure for SMA and to raise SMA awareness, so that no other family ever suffers from this dreadful disease. She does this in the most positive and inspirational way possible. She has rallied desperate families together and given them hope and inspiration. Victoria Strong truly deserves to win the My Hero Award. Victoria is my sister and I am in awe of her.

Victoria is a hero because she took a horrible situaion and turned it into something positive. She has inspired so many others to do so also, incuding myself.

Victoria fights so hard to put an end to SMA. She keeps fighting even though her heart is breaking, she is tired beyond belief, and sometimes she must feel like there is no hope. She does it for her daughter and she does it for children like my son Beau who died because of this cruel disease. I believe that someday soon Victoria and her husband will be the main reason that countless babies will live and countless parents will get to keep their children with them, instead of just in their broken hearts. I am constantly blown away by Victorias’ strength, determination and most of all her love.

Victoria is a tireless advocate for her dauhter and the entire SMA community.
