In 2008, Congress successfully blocked the U.S. Department of Agriculture from allowing imported processed poultry from China. However, corporations such as Tyson and Cargill have been putting pressure on Congress to lift the ban so they can profit more.

SAN FRANCISCO -- About 150 imported food shipments a month are tested at a laboratory here for contaminants consumers shouldn't eat, like mercury in swordfish, salmonella in shrimp and filth in mushrooms.

Business response to Chinese imports that may be dangerous. I am trying to avoid ALL food made from Chinese ingredients, whether imported or wholly made there. It's NOT easy! What do you think - should we do more then ban just some Chinese fish???
