New data released today by the Wildlife Conservation Society and Malaysia's Department of Wildlife and National Parks (DWNP) reveals that a population of endangered Asian elephants living in a Malaysian park may be the largest in Southeast Asia.

Fantastic news, it just shows the importance of conservation & working together to maintain reserves for the future. It will also bring tourists in so it will provide a tourist industry for jobs & reinvestment.

Though i'm an avid animal lover and appreciate animal news,good and bad,i sometimes think in a situation as this one where it suggests quite a few elephants are thriving,can also be their downfall. Pumped up with this news,poachers will be sprinting there and we all know what happens next. These animals need a safe house and now they've been ratted out...not good at all!!!!
