Jaguars still roam the world's largest wetland and endangered Hyacinth Macaws nest in its trees but advancing farms and industries are destroying Brazil's Pantanal region at an alarming rate.

The world is heavily populated now. This actually calls for concern from all well meaning leaders accross the globe. the issue of overpopulation is seriously impacting on the environment. I think there is an urgent need to protect our God given natural resources. We are supposed to co-exist with them and not to destroy them. If we continue at the rate we are going Antarica and other natural resources we disappear before our very eye and then we are doom. Back to Brazil. I plead with their governement to spear the Forest. Thank you.

I agree 100% with John Azubuike. His comments are correct the planet earth is overpopulated and in dire trouble because this is what is impacting on our natural envirement and animal life. In the not too distant future there most likely will be problems with supplying food for the masses and this includes Europe & the western countries. The forests must be spared in Brazil. The removal of them will have serious concequences for posterity.

We need to ensure that what nature reserves and unspoilt land is left as a matter of urgency.

Of course population size if the real reason for all these issues. But governments have been encouraging population growth by handing out baby bonuses to families- this because larger populations create more consumers, which creates more profits for business, which create more taxes for governments. Capitalism cannot exist without large populations. It began when the population of the world expanded. Lets hope capitalism will end soon as it is unsustainable and lets look forward to small communities. Meanwhile it helps if people dont have more than 2 children.

Population control is possible in a wolrd that is very enlightened to understand the implication of overpopulation. However,in a world where some super powers are in serious contest on whose shoulders the world policies should be on. Ok call it the world policing, population size becomes a big factor. The type of government in place does not really mater but rather the direction of the government. What is the government position on environmental issues and all that. Yes if the government is favorabably disposed to environmental issues it can rule on birth control.
