Aren't invasive species second only to habitat loss when it comes to threatening native species?

I am dealing with invasive species in my own yard, and it is no fun! I planted Miscanthus a popular ornamental grass in my yard. it is now seeding itself everywhere, and it takes a lot of work to dig out all the roots of these tough grasses. We also have kudzu growing over all the trees and the vine is killing trees one after the other in the woods. This is serious stuff.

I know what you're going through Tierney. Our whole region is infected with hawkweed, so widespread as to be impossible to get rid of, and I am on a personal crusade to eliminate knapweed on my acreage, been fighting it for 4 years now, digging, pulling, but mostly, unfortunately, spraying. And those are only 2 of our invasive, noxious weeds.

It's always a good idea to contact your county extension agency, or maybe the state to find out what ornamentals are considered invasive in your area.
