Please send a message to brands like Nike, Timberland, Adidas, Reebok, Clark's, and Geox that you care about where their leather comes from and that it cannot come from Amazon deforestation.

These big companies really need to know where their true bread comes from and that is the environment...

Cher, as a vegan I can't sign this petition. Yes the Amazon must be protected. But I'm not telling anyone to get cows from somewhere else for their hides.

I would rather tell them to stop the slaughter altogether and to hell with leather shoes, because the leather comes from the living hell of abused and slaughtered animals.

By signing I have not told anybody to go and raise cows elsewhere. After the last tree has been feelled thats it, it'll be over and there will be no need for shoes. In the meantime I am wearing shoes entirely made of synthetic materials. They are much better. Have you also switched?

i have signed but to me this is a difficult one! what to wear on ones feet.not leather obviously but plastic and other synthetics are not biodegradable so it seems to me there is no footwear i can be happy with save for maybe rubber wellies(brilliant in the rain)but i'm sure even these have issues attached! bare feet,ok at home but in the broken glass littered streets not possible.

Polly:
Buy Cros brand shoes. They are made of completely recycled materials. If you get tired of them, the company with take the back and ship them to Ghana for the poor. They also make diabetic socks and shoes and just charge $8.49 for the socks (that cost from any other company $14.00 or more and they make diabetic shoes and charge only $39. for them (cheapest from any other company $200). They are a really "green" company,

Don't tell Nike, Adidas, etc. anything verbally, Tell them fiscally (since that is where they will listen) by shopping with green corporations that made similar or superior products.
