About 5 years ago on the 4th of July they had a fireworks display in downtown Asheville, NC. And there was an adorable small white dog barking and enjoying the fireworks when these 2 mean boys lit a firecracker underneath him. The dog immediately started whimpering and running around in circles which made the boys laugh. Finally, a woman saw what was happening and so did other observers. They quickly put the fire out and she took him to her vet clinic. She, and a host of other vets worked on him all night until they felt he was safe. He had to undergo many more surgeries but he came out of them wagging his tail every time. By this time, the vet had fallen head-over-heels in love with him and named him "Independence" for Independence Day and she shortend it to "Indie." Needless to say Indie found himself a good loving home with his vet because his "rightful owners" never came forth to claim him and the jr. scumbags spent one or two nights in jail. So please, keep a watchful, loving, eye on your dogs or cats tonight. Thnx, Cher!!

People need to act responsibly with their pets, just as they do with their children.........or do they even to that nowadays?
