Much of Britain's marine biodiversity is under threat from human activity, according to a report on Wednesday which highlights the plight of harbour porpoises and Atlantic salmon.

The UK will have to make tougher and very specific laws about the methods and equipment used by its commercial fishing industry to prevent seal by catch and avoid scraping the ocean bed while trawling. Just assigning quotas won't work,
