To say it is disgraceful serves no purpose.

But, you & I as individuals trying so hard
to right all the wrongs in nature is beyond
defeat.

Everyday, wherever I walk I often remind
myself of the time an indian, a buffalo or
a mountain once walked in the steps I take.

Whyare we here anyway?

Plant trees for life......On earth.........

It is a shame indeed. The evaluations and needs need to be updated and not just be based on a 17 year old plan. Thanks Cher.

Some extracts from the article - much to ponder and to protest!
===================================================
Each EU citizen pays 300 Euros to Brussels
"Each European citizen pays every year about 300 Euros to the European Union, but just 30 cents are used to safeguard our natural heritage," Baumüller said. "The bad status of our environment is just the inevitable consequence of decades of wrong political decisions."

Spain, Greece, Cyprus & Portugal are data deficient
"Despite the legal obligation to gather information and take appropriate measures for the protection of the environment, in countries like Spain the status of nearly two thirds of habitats is still unknown. And no data are provided about the conservation status of around half the threatened species in Greece, Cyprus or Portugal." said Baumüller.

"You cannot protect what you do not know - delays and misreporting at national levels need to be subject to effective sanctions if we want to guarantee a healthy and economically viable environment for our future generations."

When all the animals are gone, we will not be far behind.....

Noted. How many environmentalists or environmental films, from within or without Europe, do we need before the powerful European Community realizes that we are just about out of chances to preserve wildlife and human life, not far behind? I would have thought that “HOME”, the film by Yann Arthus-Bertrand, would have said it all, and the film was produced by Europa.

Not hard to tell the EU priorities with these stats.

Animals don't vote so are of little interest. As for the farmers, they receive lots of supplements so wildlife preservation is very low on their list of things to do.

This is saddening. Yet profits are okay for them. Sad.
