Cuting off trophies I seem to remember reading about such things in the Vietnam war and the Indian wars. In Biblical times it was done there is no excuse for this barbarity today anywhere. Foxhunters cut off the foxes tail in the UK as a trophy, after smearing the blood on children with it, and that includes the Royal family! The ignorant must be educated in spey and neuter activity. Then perhaps the benefits to all will be seen!

A care2 member is from Rumania - Veronica Lach. She lives on a small holding - with dozens of rescues. I wanted to send her a care parcel Xmas last - put the whole parcel together and then found I could not send it because the postage is too high from South Africa (can't send it ordinary mail from here - they steal the contents or the whole box!) and courier was R2000 = about USA $259. Veronica works herself to the bone caring for these woofs and goes into town on weekends feeding the multitude of strays there.

The animal welfare laws in Rumania is virtually non-existent. Rumania is also not a PayPal recipient. So Veronica could not even setup a donation at Paypal. If someone is willing to set up a donation at Paypal for Veronica Lach - we can all contribute to it, then the person who set it up must do a manual bank transfer to Veronica. I can give $10 only, but it is a start.

Let us help someone who is rolling up her sleeves in Romania - she is not a young lady and lives on very little - almost all her bit of money is spent on taking care of strays.

I'll track the comments on this thread - in the hope that someone will respond. Blessings to all here at Care2 who make a difference to the lives of animals around the world.

It is happening in Alaska to the wolves and bears, approved by the government. Aerial shooting of wolves, cut front left paw off, whether it is dear or alivr, as proof. Then poison the cubs.

Dear Animal Lovers, personally, I trust animals and if my animal does not like you, neither will I like you. But in Eastern Europe, their culture, crime rate and laws are very different. I married a Russian and lived in Odessa, Ukraine for six years. Poverty there is much worse than our homeless ever thought about. A homeless beggar here is a king there. As a result of that, many fearful people, that became crime victims try to protect themselves with a cute and lovable puppies that very soon turn into huge. expensive and vicious meat eaters, so they put them out on the streets to fend for themselves as best as they can and they are adequately evolved to do this under harsh conditions. There are no dog catchers or dog pounds there, the poor do feed them from their apartment builodings as they do let people know if strangers are around and they do have more cute puppies, so you might see on a daily basis a dog pack of 5 to 20 dogs. I got attacked by a pack of 5 German Shepherds, I kicked the Alpha leader on the nose and knocked him back 4 feet with a well-placed front snap kick. The other four dogs wanted no part of me, I was so scared and then angry, I chased them down the street growling and barking for a fight.

So you not having lived there in dire poverty and under the ever-present threat of criminals and large carnivores have no clue about what you speak about. Both realitiesforce you to try guard dogs, but they become unaffordable, can't feed them, throw them on the street, and the lack of dog catchers makes everyone nervous. I know why they then kill the feral dogs, who will attack and eat you as a group, if you are old, sick or weak, like a wolf that they are.

I now carry a cane and military CS tear gas with pepper spray everywhere I go and do understand the need for a lack of street dogs in packs, you need to get an education before you talk about what you have no understanding about. I am the Alpha dog in my pack and attacked trained as a Vietnam Veteran. Dogs do have a time and place, but not running freely on the streets in packs to assault every child and old person walking along. Before you condemn the Romanian citizens, walk a month in their shoes under their communist government that has no funds for dog catchers. There I do not feed them and they don't have as many puppies and you can carry the puppies off to another place to avoid them daily in your face.

people are so quick to judge, they do not get the full story of why certain countries do what they do its just the fact that they've done something they donot agree with so they are deemed monsters when in fact the true monsters are the ones being killed and the ears chopped off.
