Earlier this year his efforts paid off, when the Afghan government created the country's first national park, called Band-e-Amir, which lies 240 kilometres west of Kabul.

Absolutely magic... a definite step in the right direction, so the next generation will benefit tremendously from the effort that the Canadians have put into creating this magnificent park

This is a fabulous accomplishment and one which I think could and should be applied to Jerusalem where some of the major religions of the world can share a peaceful international park to allow all to worship in their holiest of holy temples/mosques/churches, etc. It should be a place of peace and contemplation of what God's wishes are for all of us. Maybe one day we'll understand what our purpose is here on earth.

God bless the earth. The sentiment is nice, but how realistic is it to do this when the surrounding area is in turmoil? Won't the nuts damage this, too, if they know about it?

What a triumph! And Chris waited 30 years for it. With the US and UNESCO helping and the release of the list of protected species, this park is a blessing for the Afghan people and an example of cooperation among nations. I celebrate with you, Roseanne et al.I
