Conservationists Fuming at Low Fines for Bird Trappers in Malta

Bird conservationists reacted angrily today when a Malta court sentenced a man to a fine of 600 Euros after he was found guilty of animal cruelty and being illegally in possession of 75 strictly protected wader birds. The Committee Against Bird Slaughter

The best way to change human behavior is to directly align costs and consequences with behaviors you want to stop. When they crank up the punishment to something really painful and then enforce the laws and levy the full penalty, this will stop; probably not until then.

They spend all that money on catching the perps, weeks of observation and then the law spits on them. Malta, shame on you!
