The Animal Welfare Institute and the Wildlife Alliance of Maine today filed a preliminary injunction in Federal District Court in Bangor, seeking to stop Maine's early coyote and fox-trapping season, which opens Sunday.

I'm hoping for a permanent ban on all trapping of all kinds. I also hope we put big fines and maybe prison time on people who are caught in possession of any traps.

Thanks Cher. I was a member of Wildlife Alliance of Maine while I lived there. They are totally non-profit and have many volunteers doing great things. The Director even spends months at a time volunteering in countries devastated by natural disasters. I really hope that the courts will help them with this.

It is not good enough to stop trapping this season......there are many more seasons to follow. What then....?
