RIP, Nikki, you were loved (by your adoptive parents), and I know that all furbabies are grieving at hearing of your death. I am too, for one. No more pain, Nikki, take care of those babies over the Rainbow Bridge. TY, again, Cher.

Signed and forwarded. I feel strongly about this but remained calm in my comments even so!
comment added to the petition -
I have known people who rescued dogs who had collars embedded in their necks from this - literally grown in to their bodies. It's horrific and should result in jail time for ALL offenders. People who are cruel and neglectful have these behavior traits consistently observable throughout their lives and in all likelihood they are cruel and neglectful habitually, including toward children and others who are most vulnerable. Being cruel does not cure or heal itself - it feeds on itself and escalates and our society pays the price. It's cost effective, humane, and essential that we stop cruelty in its tracks EACH and EVERY time we come across it. This is a great start. We need to follow up legislation with vigorous enforcement and rigorous assessment of big fines and significant jail time for offenders.

Thank you Cher and everyone else who have promoted Nikki's petition. My name is Tony and I was Nikki's owner and friend. I am quite computer challenged so I really don't know how all of this works. I tried to send a "star" to Cher but I was advised I was not eligible because I am not sponsored or have no friends. I'm not even sure how I was able to accomplish the petition; but thanks to you all it has really been noticed.

Nikki was a jewel. She WAS the "Break the Chain" campaign. I was just the guy holding the leash. I will miss her terribly, but I believe her legacy will live on. Thank you all again so much for supporting and noting (I must confess, I don't know what that means)her petition.

To all of you on this recipient list who have signed and forwarded Nikki's petition, I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. For those of you who have not yet signed and forwarded this very important petition, I ask that you please do so.

At last check Nikki's petition was more than half way to meeting the goal of 1000 signatures. With your help and the help of your email contacts, the remaining 400 plus signatures should be a snap to get to the goal of 1000 signatures.

For those of you who know me, you probably knew Nikki. Please do it for her.

For those of you who don't know me, please do it for Nikki and the thousands of other dogs that can be spared a life at the end of a chain. Life at the end of a chain is no life at all.

"We must fight against the spirit of unconscious cruelty with which we treat the animals. Animals suffer as much as we do. True humanity does not allow us to impose such sufferings on them. It is our duty to make the whole world recognize it. Until we extend our circle of compassion to all living things, humanity will not find peace."
