Poor Mercedes. It is good news that she finally gets to have some space -- so bad Edinburgh zoo had to be campaigned to offer her that, but she is still going to be alone. Wouldn't it have been kinder and more compassionate to have taken her to a sanctuary that already had a lone male polar bear?

Maybe a few million humans should be put in a sanctuary,
with all being male or femal .......No children!!! To damned bad
the animals can't put u where we belong.

How utterly cruel & indignant this is.

It really is a toss up for me as to which fate I would prefer. Remember, she was due to be shot. She was a bear headed for a tangle with humans and was going to be shot as a precautionary measure. "3 strikes your out".

So, the zoo has given her life in return for living in restricted quarter. Now, she get a bigger place to live that's nicer.

That's not such a terrible thing. Better than dead.

I supose you do have a point Judy.

But, loneliness for an animal is as bad
as it is for us. They really should get her
a friend from Alaska................
