INFORMATION

Atmospheric carbon dioxide currently stands at about 387 parts per million. Scientists, including the head of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and Jim Hansen, formerly of NASA, have called on world leaders to reduce that level to 350 parts per million. Doing so will require the United States to cut its greenhouse gas emissions to 40 percent or more below 1990 levels by 2020.

Studies have concluded that 35 percent of species could be committed to extinction by 2050 if current emissions trajectories continue. But many of these extinctions can be prevented if greenhouse gas emissions are cut.

In celebration of the International Day of Climate Action on October 24, we need you to help us take action to save these species and the thousands of others at risk from runaway climate change. With President Barack Obama preparing for international climate negotiations in Copenhagen this December, the time to act is now.

I am a wildlife biologist who works with endangered species - I see the effects of climate change everyday - and that is what keeps me motivated to continue with the fight - we have so much to lose be chosing inaction over action....

Nobody seems to take in the fact that there has not been an increase in world temperature since 1998....even though CO2 went up.

Anybody who tries to convince you to go along with a scam by telling you about his supposed scientific credentials, when there is no way to prove that the entity who claims the identity of a real person IS that real person, should be viewed with suspicion.

Democrats are abandoning Obama on global warming

Only 50% of Democratic voters in the U.S. agree with President Obama’s belief that humans are responsible for global warming, according to a new poll from Pew Research Center released today. This figure is down from the 58% average among Democrats in the last three years of the Bush Administration, and represents the first time that a majority of Democrats have not endorsed the man-made theory of global warming.

Independent voters in the U.S., meanwhile, have stopped blaming humans for global warming in even greater numbers. Only 33% now blame us. Last year, independents believed humans were to blame at the same 50% level that Democrats are now at. Republicans are also abandoning the “blame human” stance, dropping from 27% last year to 18% this year.

Among all Americans, only 36% blame humans, the lowest figure yet. Last year, 47% blamed humans.

"Nobody seems to take in the fact that there has not been an increase in world temperature since 1998....even though CO2 went up."

Judy, that is a bald-faced lie, and your repeating that lie a million times will never make it true. Global temperatures last peaked in 2005 and only started to fall in 2007, due to the Sun going quiet for an extended period.

"Anybody who tries to convince you to go along with a scam by telling you about his supposed scientific credentials, when there is no way to prove that the entity who claims the identity of a real person IS that real person, should be viewed with suspicion."

The same applies to YOU, Judy. Why should we not think you are a scammer working for ExxonMobil?

Judy's standard M O is to:
1. Assume that anything posted by denialists like herself must be truthful.
2. Assume that anything posted by supporters of the man-made global warming hypothesis must be part of a worldwide "scam".
3. Plaster denialist propaganda in a vain attempt to intimidate people who dare to post news stories about the climate change problem here.
4. When her claims are debunked, ignores or dismisses the rebuttals and challenges from others.
5. Makes personal attacks against others, then cries foul when she gets attacked in return.
6. Waits until another news story about climate change is posted in the C2NN to repeat points 1 through 5.
No wonder she is laughed at and scorned around here.

I get so tired of being called a liar by someone who lies as easily as he breaths.

If Exxon was really against the scam...they would have funded the skeptics better than they did. $22 million over at least 20 years is chicken feed compared to the $80 Billion spent by the US government on a phony new science or even the $300 Million spent by Al Gore for advertising and PR. Who buys your groceries Dale? Fenton Communications?

Still spewing the fake "80 Billion Dollars" prapaganda ...and if you think Exxon has only spent $20 million (and that no other company has spen a dime) on the disinformation campaign, then you really are nieave - and we know better and can't be fooled by YOUR pronouncements (backed by NOTHING)...

Did global warming stop in 1998?

The skeptic argument...For the years 1998-2005, temperature did not increase. And yes, this eight-year period of temperature stasis did coincide with society's continued power station and SUV-inspired pumping of yet more CO2 into the atmosphere. (Source: There IS a problem with global warming... it stopped in 1998 by Bob Carter)

What the science says...
The planet has continued to accumulate heat since 1998 - global warming is still happening. Nevertheless, surface temperatures show much internal variability due to heat exchange between the ocean and atmosphere. 1998 was an unusually hot year due to a strong El Nino.

Look at the reference our resident "scientist" uses....some unknown, un-credentialed guy in Australia.

That should give you your first clue about the phonyniness.

Like we are supposed to believe this junk instead of Prof Bob Carter, one of over 700 scientists who say human caused climate change is balderdash.

The fact that you can never seem to come up with something better by way of scientific references than .scepticalscience.com is what make me doubt your own pretense to credentials.

Still denying the links to the peer reviewed literature appearing in the article? Very sill since everyone can see that they do actually exist...as to BOOB Carter - a simple search can help peole determine if they think he is credible or not (he is a natorious denialist BLOG writer)....

Note well those who support the scam and who vilify real scientists who can spell.

Taunghts about spelling just show how childish you are - and how weak your agrument is if that is your basis of a retort LMAO!!! Personal attacks are also a sign of a weak argument as you have said in the past...

I work with several people here outside of Care2 and they know who I am - I have NOTHING to prove to you and it is a waste of time to try to do so since you denye the existance of everything that does not fall in line with your "pronouncements of truth" ... your assesments of me are irrelevant..

"Bob Carter is a Research Professor at James Cook University (Queensland) and the University of Adelaide (South Australia). He is a palaeontologist, stratigrapher, marine geologist and environmental scientist with more than thirty years professional experience, and holds degrees from the University of Otago (New Zealand) and the University of Cambridge (England). He has held tenured academic staff positions at the University of Otago (Dunedin) and James Cook University (Townsville), where he was Professor and Head of School of Earth Sciences between 1981 and 1999. Are you referring to me or Chris? I've never known Chris to make wildly inaccurate statements like "there has not been an increase in world temperature since 1998". All the global temperature charts I've ever seen do show temperature rises since 1998. Oh, but you must think they are all faked too.

The only reason you are a climate change denialist and beleive and spread around all that propaganda from corporate run media and denialist blogs is because there is something about the idea that man can change climate through his irresponsible actions that sticks in your ego. Well, I DON'T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT YOUR HYPERINFLATED EGO!!!!

Hey, does anyone here have a needle? :)

What about James Hansen's creditials, Judy? You attack him so much for being part of the "scam" you scream so much about.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Hansen

{{{James E. Hansen (born March 29, 1941 in Denison, Iowa) heads the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York City, a part of the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, Earth Sciences Division. He has held this position since 1981. He is also an adjunct professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Columbia University.

After graduate school, Hansen continued his work with radiative transfer models and attempting to understand the Venusian atmosphere. This naturally led to the same computer codes being used to understand the Earth's atmosphere. He used these codes to study the effects that aerosols and trace gases have on the climate. Hansen has also contributed to the further understanding of the Earth's climate through the development and use of global climate models.

Hansen is best known for his research in the field of climatology, his testimony on climate change to congressional committees in 1988 that helped raise broad awareness of global warming, and his advocacy of action to limit the impacts of climate change.}}}

Who is to say that Bob Carter is any better than James Hansen just because you assume (based on propaganda sources) that one is truthful and the other is not?

Carter and Solomon are credible...the Evil twins of Climate Change Al Gore and Maurice Strong are not. They were in "business" together in the 1980s and they put together the Chicago Climate Change.....the Chicago office was to handle ALL CARBON TRADES IN NORTH AMERICA. ALL OTHER EXCHANGES WOULD HAVE TO TRADE THROUGH THEM. Just another commodities market centered in crooked Chicago.

Oh, I almost forgot. Obama was on board of the Chicago based foundation that gave Gore and Strong the seed money to found the Chicago Climate Exchange.

After going through CC Exchange, Goldman Sachs was to be the main brokerage house for trade between Europe and North America.

Did you know Gore's daughter is married to a scion of the ruling family that owns Goldman-Sachs?

Isn't it all so cozy?

"breaths." "phonyniness" etc

re:spelling, people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones

disinformation means:

"false information, as about a country's military strength or plans, publicly announced or planted in the news media, esp. of other countries."

stop misusing that word: it's like nails down a blackboard

at this thread
http://www.care2.com/news/member/901507364/1284784#

details the costs of the militarization of the fossil-fuel economy.

The fossil-fuel economy not only pollutes our world, but costs trillions of dollars and thousands if not over a million of innocent peoples' lives, as well as the devastation of other sovereign nations and their ecosystems.

as Im said, anyone can do a search on Bob Carter and make a determination for them selves how "reliable" he is ... everyone know better than to rely solely on the "information" you provide us (duely blessed by the denilist blogs of course LMAO!!!)...in fact, I strongly urge people do do that research so that they can see for themselves the type of "experts" you hold in such reverance LOL!!!!

It is sooo funny ... you have been accused of making strawman arguments and providing dissinformation (and appropriately so) in the past, so now you spout those same terms back - but at completely inappropriate times (when they don't apply) ... you simply parrot back the words but don't know how to apply them properly ... you just press the play button on your tape recorder without THINKING about context .... it really is quie humerous.....

Or perhaps you can't take a joke. Conservapedia was founded by right-wing extremists who were so delusional that they claimed Wikipedia was "biased" towards liberalism (because they themselves cannot either describe liberalism without attacking it or describe conservatism without promoting it). So when you attacked Wikipedia, I thought of Conservapedia. My bad!
