You guys obviously don't have a clue about what those dogs on Greenland are.

They are not pets, but semi wild beasts of burden that the locals depend on for transportaion during winter - they operate as packs where the owner HAS to do what is neccesary to be the leader of the pack. Having them running arround loose would pose a severe danger to the people.
As for the cold, these dogs are bred to live in that climate and have no problem surviving outdoors all year round - they can even show signs of overheating when the temperature gets anyway near the freezing point of water from below. Demanding that they should be protected from the environment is just as idiotic as demanding that polar bears should be kept indoors.

PETA lies.

To Carl Nielsen: Have you bothered to read an explorer's account of sledding dogs? I have, And though these dogs do not like to over heat, the rest of the treatment meted out to them is simply horrific. In that PETA does not lie. I refer you to just one of the several books, which I own:
