What is happening to society when there are people consider it having fun to torture and kill any animal in such a horrifying way? Are humans losing all sense of decency?

This practice has probably existed for hundreds of years. I wrote a tactful note. Like domestic violence, these traditions continue until we raise consciousness . . . and more. (Yes, people do this due to poor self-esteem, often regenerated because of poverty.) Be patient -- some changes take lifetimes -- but change does come.

I added that surely there are other ways of testing one's courage than to inflict pain on an animal.

Signed and sent and forwarded. Thanks Cher. Added comments too. See below.
A society that tolerates cruelty, worse - encourages and rewards it, is dangerous to itself and to all other communities and societies. People who have learned to enjoy being cruel will only continue being cruel. This does not heal itself, but feeds on itself and escalates. These cruel, brutal, and vicious people will find victims and those victims will be the most vulnerable members of society. They are creating abusive and violent people - why? Where is any upside to this? How does any good come from creating cruel and brutal people who will go on to find more victims to attack? Why would anyone find these people trustworthy to visit or to do business with or even tolerate at all? Is your entire society rooted in the dark ages or do you just treasure the violent and brutal parts of your past? How revolting and subhuman. So, why?
