This is good because this has been going on for quite a while. There are some very good responsible breeders out there but then there are the ones not thinking about the health of the animals and genetic traits that cause problems in the future. Believe it or not I have even encountered problems with certain chicken breeds that have had defects and genetic problems from too much inbreeding. It is a science too.
Thanks Cher

It's about time! Animals should be bred for health and strength - not to meet artificial standards that do the dog no good, so that their owners can boast of all the trophies their pets have won. And it's not only dogs that suffer from this. I was in the cat fancy for about three years, and I was appalled at the flat-faced Persians and the elongated muzzles of the Siamese - and both breeds had a hard time breathing. I left the cat fancy because I no longer wanted to live through my cats. There's nothing wrong with showing your pets - it's fun! - but, again, they should be bred for health and strength - NOT for exaggerated features that damage the animal's health.

i'd rather see all breeding end, but until then, i'll advocate for stricter breeding standards. animals should never suffer for human enjoyment.
