A common anesthetic is being eyed by federal investigators as a potential cause of the dramatic slowdown in the country's last known wild jaguar that led to a decision to euthanize him.

The death of Macho B was a real tragedy, w very upset by it for a long time... still am!!!

I thought that maybe his death was because of something like this!

Why can't MAN just leave the wildlife alone????????

From the article
==============
But the veterinarian who tranquilized Macho B for his recapture, Ole Alcumbrac of Lakeside, said he avoids using Telazol on large cats because of concerns about its effects on tigers, African lions and other species dating back 20 years.
======================================================================

Obviously some people are clueless and no where near up to date on the latest medical information. This was plain murder.

Perhaps a necropsy should of been done to determine the cause of death, perhaps a new protocol could be used then, or just ban the use of Telazol all together

I had read about this claim elsewhere. It's so so sad. ***********There's a petition to help the US jaguar at:

Oh man, that Telazol has caused problems it seems with other big cats--I have read of tigers that had died. They were radio-collared for a study, and I think this was in the Sundarbans.
