HE SHOULD BE CHARGED WITH SEVERAL OTHER CHARGES BESIDES ANIMAL CRUELTY/ABUSE/DEATH BY CRUELTY. THESE WOULD INCLUDE-CRIMINAL TRESPASS/THEFT/DESTRUCTION OF ANOTHER'S PROPERTY/ PLUS OTHERS I CANNOT RECALL AT THIS TIME. THE TOWN'S SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT/PROSECUTER'S OFFICES MUST BE AFRAID OF THIS MANIAC OR FRIENDS WITH HIM AND DO THESE TYPE OF CRIMINAL ACTIONS THEMSELVES. WHAT IS TO STOP HIM FROM JUST INVADING THE NEIGHBOR'S HOME AND SHOOTING THEM OR SETTING FIRE TO THEIR HOME. AFTER ALL WHEN A CRIMINAL GETS AWAY WITH SOMETHING IT USUALLY LEADS TO WORSE CRIMES. I recently discovered that 2 family dogs were lured into a neighbor's yard in Elgin, SC, and used for target practice. This is disgusting and I am sickened that nothing has been done to serve justice on the party or parties that were involved.

There are laws on record for crimes of animal cruelty and I ask that you respect them by upholding them and prosecute the criminals to the fullest extent of the law and push for tough penalties on these acts. If these type of crimes are allowed to happen without repercussions, it only leads to worse crimes against people later and sets a bad example for your community.

I have neighbors right behind me that have killed two of my cats I let play in my fenced in yard. The police will not do anything about these people even though they are known drug addicts and have mental problems. Yet they get to own guns because of HIPPA. Amazing!!!

Can someone please a link to a news story on this? I cannot find this report in any of the newspapers in the area including The State in Columbia which is the "local" Elgin paper. I have many friends down there and none had heard of this incident and want to send them the story.

Like Mark G., I couldn't find any official reports of this story, and the report on Change.org was short on details: where were the dogs lured from? their owner's yard? loose on the street? Were they shot at just for fun, or was the shooter trying to eliminate a perceived menace? (Not that that excuses that action).
My sympathies with the dogs' owners, and I hope they get Kathy C.'s link to Animal Legal Defense and use it.
