We all have human heroes-whether they're our mom or a Pulitzer prize winner. But what about the furry, four-legged kind? Pets have saved families from house fires, pulled drowning victims safely to shore and bravely put themselves between kids and

I nominate the wonderful Sheltie, Airlie, who served my grandmother as a companion dog during the last years of my grandmother's life. Airlie was a wonderful dog in all possible ways and did valiant comoanion service as my grandmother's health became worse.

I nominate both 'Daddy' , Cesar Millans pit bull for 16 years whose devotion and loyalty aided Cesar Millan in his work to rehabilitate dogs and train people.
I also nominate http://www.k9-solutions.com/ & http://fortheloveofthedogblog.com/news-updates/a-hero-on-four-legs-video
and our own Alexi and Chase whose love was undeniable as they stayed by my side through dark days.

My K-9 partner for 5 years. Best Cop I ever knew, No fear, Loyal to the end, Caught Criminals, found drugs, and was my campanion 24 hours a day. He would tear up a person in a minute, but was gentle as a lamb to curious kids and adults alike. No he did not eat Doughnuts.

There are many 4-legged heros out there.....I would like to think about the search and rescue dogs of 9/11 and recently in Haiti. My personal hero is a cat named Tom Tom whom while I was sick for 2wks. never left my side (except to use the litter box, of course). If I went to the bathroom, he went too...the kitchen to get a drink, he would grab a quick couple of mouthfuls of food and a slurp of water...then back at my heels headed for the bed! He also comes and gets me when I don't hear the dog scratch the door to come back inside!
