Micro chips cannot stop dog fighting, but they can help to find and prosecute the ones fighting the dogs. I used to breed and sell Pit Bulls, with a strict contract and I micro chipped each of my pups that were to be sold. IF one goes to the vet or is picked up by an animal shlelter, and is found to have been fought, I not the owner am contacted and I will prosecute to the fullest extent of the law.

If this or anything will help stop dog fighting, then I am all for it!

Better than that, anyone doing this, they should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, and that means jail time, with their names on public display.....this is as sickening as child abuse!

If all animals were chpped then simply being in possession of an unchipped animal would be an offence and create a reason for the police to investigate thate person rather like the do at present when they flag an uninsured oor un taxed vehicle as illegal use of vehicles often runs parallel to criminal activity. Nothing will entirely prevent the determoned from doing anything but any thing that makes it harder for criminals to operate is to be commended. Bait animals could be linked to the theft of that animal for example when cats and dogs are stolen for the purpose of training fight dogs! Micro chipping of owners is a good idea that the civil liberties lobby would not like, personally I see no good reason why DNA, fingerprints and eye patterns should not be on the police database the only people that should fear that are terrorists and criminals!

I am for anything that will help stop the dogfighting practice. But this micro-chipping is probably not the answer....maybe it could help to identify where some of the dogs originated but what dogfighter is gonna micro-chip his dog? They may find stolen dogs within the circuit which would be helpful. Thanks Cher!
