Even though a modern, humane non-animal method has been approved by the U.S. government for more than four years, the Colorado Serum Company (CSC) continues to use thousands of hamsters for leptospirosis vaccine potency tests.

Noted. Thanks Cher. I have had hamsters as pets and even had one treated for heart problems, they are a part of our Earth and deserve to live, just like and including us, free of harm, intentional wrong doing and lack of mutual respect of the fact that we all are born on earth with no preconceptions that anyone of us belonging here or having a right to live more than another. Even though something is different, no matter what size or shape, or the matter of it being a personal favorite of our species should determine its right to live unviolated. We have enough technology and advanced graphics for computer generated analysis ability to where it leaves them excuse less for this unacceptable mistreatment of another living thing. It is horrible that these things are still allowed to go on, we have to start proving we're the most intelligent living things, and that we have evolved by doing that right thing. We have to start respecting all living things, and stop making an embarrassment of the human race.

How archaic, cruel, and stupid - perhaps these researchers should be injected with this serum just so they can see how it works?
noted and signed - thanks, cher!

sick and nasty, cruel and unnecessary - just like Procter and Gamble and their testing on the innocent

P.S. your country needs some good, effective people - probably independent - to really start looking at these unpleasant companies, and take them to task. They are getting away with murder, and no-one is holding them accountable. Many of us tried to prevent Procter and Gamble getting Olympic sponsorship, as we don't want them associated with our 2012 Games. But big money opens every door - and principles and integrity fly out of the window. Thanks,Cher, signed/noted

Hello Cher, thank you so much for posting this awful thing. Signed and noted.
My daughter just lost her hamster yesterday. he was very sweet. I feel he died by the hands of the vets office, which I will never return to.
My cat died in the same awful painful way our hamster did afew days after her vet visit there too. They muust not be mixing their meds right. neither of them were very sick when brought in either and both died very awful painful deaths.
I feel so bad for these cute little hamsters they are experimenting on here.
Have a great day,
Kitty

Noted and signed with pleasure as my dachshund received one of these innoculations years ago and I ended up in the emergency vet in the middle of the night with him screaming in pain. It took days for him to get back to normal. A co-worker whose dachshund received an innoculation at the same vet also ended up in the emergency vet in the middle of the high with his throat swelled shut and he almost died. I was not aware then you could contact the vaccine menufacturer and register a complaint and ask for reimbursement for my extremely exepensive visit to the emergency vet so I took this opportunity to unload on them about their vaccines. I am telling each one of you DO NOT GIVE YOUR ANIMALS THIS INNOCULATION AS IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. Once against animal testing is useless and I told them so. It is a highly treatable illness and the vaccines are much more dangerous than the vaccine.
