Catching insects in their mouths, diving bombing at 180 mph, spending five years over the open ocean, fighting someone much bigger -- birds can be pretty darn awesome. There's nothing scientific or methodical about this post, we just want to highlight

I agree Cher. They are awesome and smart. I raised 2 pigeons, one robin, starling and 2 mourning doves. Me myself had no idea that they are so smart, have great memory, learn fast and can play with pit bulls.

Love birds. Had a albino parakeet that would tell us to get busy (mom was always tellin us that and he learned it) or he would say squawker is a purdy bird. Now this is a little parakeet now...lol He was the best.

Starlings make the weirdest sounds but pigeons are still my favorite -- probably because they are the friendliest. I love all birds though -- we have peregrine falcons around here -- I saw one all bloodied and resting after an apparent kill on a terrace/balcony two floors above me. I'm on the 17th floor , , , for now ; ) They nest on the bridges -- in my area the Verrazzano bridge. Probably many tall buildings also. They were pretty much gone in the past two decades. A hopeful sign,

I love watching birds. I have a birdbath and a bird feeder just outside my living room window. So, while I'm on the computer, or watching TV, I can also look outside and watch the various birds that come to my yard.
Great entertainment!

Listening to birds is so much better than the other "noise:". Ha -- I got bird crap on my pants -- pigeons crawling up my legs for peanuts. Better than having a seagull crap on you from above -- a hot one down the back of your neck. I choose crap on me pants -- what a choice : )

Thank you for sharing Cher:)
Here is a video of a hummingbird moth. I have 4 O'clock flowers all around my home and these cuties just love them. They only come here at night the first time I saw them I was staring so hard to see what it was (I thought it was a hummingbird but knew it wasn't) the little guy got right between my eyes and started staring back:) I image we are funny looking to them. I hope everybody takes a moment to look at these cute creatures.

Thanks for sharing this with us Cher, my son and I watched this together, we loved the eagle the best.
My son was in awe of how just the talons skimmed the water to catch the salmon.
We had lorikeets have A.tea in the tree next to our back door today, pelicans's down the rd sitting ontop of the street lights, magpies having a wonderful arvo in the sun and sea eagles catching their eaglets their early dinner this evening...just beautiful!

Nothing of a speed freak myself but going 180Mph, reaching 240Mph on nature's wings alone. There's only one word that describes that well : Wow!

Noted and watched videos, thanks Cher. I especially liked the humming bird video as they are among my favorite birds. I plant certain flowers just for them and put out 3-4 feeders every year as they are very territorial and the males don't like sharing. I also provide food and water for all the other birds...and we have many. Love to watch them....and chickadees will eat out of my hand...and sometimes sit on my head.
