why is it that the 'family values proponents 'want to fund military spending but not spend a dime on women and children in need?

I worked for many years on Warm Line connected with Crisis Line.

The ladies who called because they had been raped tore at my heart strings.

Sometimes, the most effective thing I could do, was just listen to them cry.

The statistics for Texas are appalling! It appears that Governor Perry is NOT doing his job! He should start giving more thought to protecting women and children and less to protecting his big oil buddies. This is a serious issue all over the country. God help poor, uninsured women! What if a pregnant woman is raped and beaten and is in danger of losing her child? Will she be able to get the medical assistance she might need in light of the bill (HR 358) that the Republicans just passed?

Gladly signed and noted! Thank you for bringing this to our attention, Nancy!

It's the right that wants the funding cut from rape crisis centers. These centers give victims actual information and help, rather than acting like Crisis Pregnancy Centers, and hitting them with a barrage of propaganda and ideologically-based nonsense. Anything that actually helps women in crisis, the right wants to get rid of. I can;t be the only one who sees the pattern.

Not only should rape victims be treated properly through Rape Crisis Centers and other recovery systems, but their abusers should be caught and truncated to prevent a repeat, with multiple violent rape being a capital crime. Ban CPCs and keep Rape Crisis Centers and Planned Parenthood. Signed and noted.

Thanks Cher, done! I've only come close to being raped and both times it took years to deal with it, the attacks shook me to my core. People need help to get over this terrible trauma! I agree with Anne... The War On the Most Vulnerable continues!

First, the Topeka KS city council votes to repeal all laws against domestic violence, now this? I suppose the next move by those "God-fearing" right-wingers will be to legalize rape.

Cutting the funding of rape crisis centers is like cutting the throats of the victims. They are too frightened to go to the police, and the crisis center is all they have.
My heart goes out to all of them.

Cut funding for rape victims? How about the tbagger/republikkklans making sure their rich buddies pay their fair share of taxes. Grover Norquest be damned. ANYONE who even THINKS of voting for a person with an (R) next to their name should have their head examined for "illogical thinking." In short, is 'crazy."
